  1. I see. Great to hear there's a revision, fingers crossed they'll last me longer this time round!
  2. Maybe they're pleading ignorance then!
  3. So been in with the local garage today, and confirmed it's the dampers knocking. I then dropped off my OEM ones to let them confirm it and it has - silent ride with the OEM's! A bit rubbish from Koni. If it was the bushing at the bottom I could almost understand, and the retailer I bought from have said that would be addressable, but the damper unit itself, let alone both dampers failing is poor, and apparently very unusual. I was looking at options for changing all four to something else, however I do really like the ride on the Special Actives, and agree with the retailer in that there's nothing else really that offers a similar function. At the moment I'm waiting on Koni UK coming back to me regarding it, but I suspect I will be buying two rears and replacing them, and chalking it up to bad luck. Fingers crossed the next ones last longer!
  4. Think I paid about the same roughly, for the Koni dampers. I did think if the rears are my issue I would potentially look at moving to Bilstein all round, as 3yrs isn't long enough to last before failing, but we shall see what is discovered on Friday!
  5. Did you have standard dampers before? Have booked mine into local specialist this Friday to get to the bottom of the banging noise. Really hope it gets sorted and doesn't require new dampers!
  6. I've loved them. Tiniest bit firmer in normal driving, but on twisty roads and pushing it a bit, much more supportive. The only thing I'd say is that I'm currently having an issue with a bad knocking at the rear. There's a chance it's the rear shocks, and if so then the rears will be only 3yrs old, which is too early for them to be failing. So hoping it's not them. Might get to swap my standard ones back on at the weekend, but will have to wait and see.
  7. Was under pushing and pulling on the exhaust today and it's not making any noise at all. Not sure it's the fix I'm looking for (ie an easy one!). Back to the drawing board!
  8. What was the reason you changed to the Golf R ones? Are they quieter?
  9. Hi again, Unfortunately still not got to the bottom of this knocking issue, it's even louder now and seems to be worse on the RHS. What's been done so far: Rear ARB droplinks (no change) Rear top mounts (no change) Rear Eibach lowering springs, New OEM lower spring pads New Audi top spring pads All done at the same time as top mounts. Still no difference, just even louder now I've driven on that setup for a while. I'm starting to look into subframe / diff mounts, but there are so many it could be I'm hoping someone can offer a pointer in the right direction if they've had similar issues before. Still want to try refitting the OEM shocks to rule out any 'slop' in the top mount, or bushing noise from the bottom. I have been in the boot while a friend drives and the noise is coming from the strut tower area, as if the shocks are rattling around inside. Not just on big bumps, just general undulations in a normal "flat" road. A local German specialist has quoted me £200 for a couple of hours diagnosis which I may have to do eventually but seeing how far I can get first. Many thanks for any help in advance.
  10. Mine has been doing similar last few days :( I looked at the wires in the loom next to the hinge but couldn't find any breaks. Wondering if it could be the lock mechanism instead? I got a "no communication with lock mechanism" or similar fault code. This would make me think of a broken wire more than a faulty lock but I am open to opinions...
  11. @Othen did you get any knocking from those broken springs? Trying to track down a noise on mine!
  12. Thank you! The link is interesting, hopefully not my issue as modifying the top mounts might be tricky... Will try a loaded trunk and see if it changes. Did yours?
  13. Hello, My 2018 280 estate was in for some work this week, including addressing the knocking I've been hearing from the rear for the last few months. Garage recommended droplinks, but it hasn't solved the issue unfortunately. At just under 60k miles I'm ok with them being replaced. Garage suggested it could be the shocks, although I have a feeling they are pointing towards them simply because they're aftermarket (Koni Special Actives - exactly 3yrs old). After some digging, I found this thread - - and the concensus there was a faulty/failed wishbone bushing. Just wondering if anyone has had similar experience and managed to pinpoint the issue before I start throwing parts at it. Thanks
