  1. Have you had any fixes yet? Mine is the same, some times takes like 5 tries to start, runs at about 500rpm for a few seconds then goes fine
  2. As title, my fabia is a 2003 1.4 16v (bbz engine i believe) with 58k on the clocks. On a morning it seems to start fine, but when i try and start it when i finish work 11 hours later, most the time it takes 4 or 5 attempts to start. The engine turns over but doesnt fire, its like the spark isnt there, as when it does start up theres a puff of white smoke stinking of petrol. When it does try and start it sits at like 500 rpm only just ticking trying not to die, then it will burst into life to normal idle and drive fine. Ive tried it with a different set of coils and its just the same. It had new spark plugs, oil and filter about 7 month ago, maybee 500 mile at a push. Has anybody any ideas what problems to look for before i decide to get it in a garage or scrap it due to costs. Cheers!
  3. Can any one help me locate the crankshaft sensor on my 1.4 16v fabia? Cant seem to find it anywhere
  4. Thats it now the car wont start at all haha plenty of fuel getting through so not getting a spark
  5. At the back of my crammed in container 😂 i could borrow one from someone at work though
  6. I have a scantool it doesnt show any faults mate Cool man ill do it this weekend, thanks for the advice 👍
  7. Does this sound qbout right then mate, are they intermitent when they start too fail? I have a couple of spare ones i got from my local scrap yard that look quite new, worth swapping for them do you think?
  8. I believe it is a bbz engine mate
  9. Hi all, my 1.4 16v fabia sometimes takes a good 15 to 20 seconds of turning over before it fires, then it seems to run on 2 or 3 cylinders for a few seconds then runs on 4. It puts out a bit of white smoke and stinks of petrol when it does get going on all 4. It sometimes happens daily and sometimes not for a week or longer. I put new oil and spark plugs in about 4 month ago and have done less than a 1000 miles on them. Does anyone have any idea where i should start fault finding? Cheers all
  10. Mine is very excessive tho deffo a lot of water getting in somewhere
  11. My fabia estate has loads of condensation. I have already sealed the rear doorcard up wich was leaking, but it is leaking elsewhere too. I took the trim off from the top of the bootlid and it had loads of water droplets there and under the edge of headlining too. Is it likely to be leaking from the ariel or 3rd breaklight, or both? Are these also common leaking points? If so are they easy to seal up?
  12. Nice one for the that info it actualy has a bit of a ticking noise n feels slightly vibratey in the car so i thought it meby had a slight missfire, thats why i changed them but it didnt make a diffrence
  13. Heres a photo of the engine if you can teel which is it from ths photo? I did swap the coil packs for some 2nd hand ones that looked quite new when i changed the spark plugs. Could a coil cause this intermittent problem or would it eithe work all or non of the time?
  14. No it sounds completely normaly. I cant seem to find the engine code for it. Its got 56k on the clocks with a good service history
  15. As title, sometimes my mk1 1.4 16v doesmt want to start, it cranks but i need to the hold the key in the start position for a good 10 seconds, and then it just fires up on either 2 or 3 cylinders and wants to cut out. If i press the accelerater down at this point it revs and seems to pick up and run as normal. Its jsut had new spark plugs, oil and oil filter about 150 mile ago. There are no stored fault codes and it runs as normal when it does get going. Any one any ideas what may be the problem, or where to start looking? Cheers
