  1. Hello Sorry for the delayed update but the garage has had my car for a while. So if you recall the garage replaced my Mechatronic but the problem persisted. They then replaced the clutch and the car drives even worse so I am returning it to them tomorrow. The car struggles to move and change gears from 2nd to 3rd and 4th. Changes fine to fifth but the change to 6th is jerky and where the error message has appeared since the clutch has been replaced. They informed me that they took the car to SKODA to have the software installed to ensure that they were installing the latest software. I understand from SKODA that the warranty expired in December 2020 probably why the person decided to sell. I would be most grateful for any suggestions as I am at my wits end. Thanks
  2. When I first took the car in they thought it might be the Reverse selector and possibly wear on clutch plates and said they have to open her up to confirm the problem. They then informed me it was the Mechatronic and that the clutch plates and reverse sector were in good order and did not need replacing. I am taking the car back in three days as they currently do not have a replacement car available and I will update you after. Though I must say the car doesn't feel good. Worse in fact and error message (it like the gears are stiff/that is I feel the change especially to 6th gear) is occurring pretty regularly so I will not drive her until they call to take her in. Wish I had done more homework before...but when you don't know what you need or what to look for it is difficult...hindsight is Grrrr, though I have learnt a lot more than I knew about cars since. Thank you for your responses.
  3. I guess I will have to get these guys to fix it and then when that is done I will take it to Marshall SKODA, Milton Keynes as they seem to be the nearest approved SKODA near me.
  4. Yes, they said the part comes with a 2 year warranty and that even if I sell the car the warranty will pass to the buyer if within 2 years
  5. The error report showed the following errors: 2 Faults found: 10692 - Shift Fork 4 P2850 00 [040] - Uncommanded Movement Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested since memory clear Freeze frame: Fault status: 00000001 Fault priority: 0 Fault frequency: 1 10724 - Unable to Engage Gear R/ Synchronization Gear R failed P073E 00 [040] ----- Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested since memory clear Freeze frame: Fault status: 00000001 Fault priority: 0 Fault frequency: 5 Hope that this is useful....though remember that I have never ever had a problem with any gear including the reverse gear. The message comes up when I am driving and have to pull over switch off then restart
  6. I bought the car in December from a friend of a friend who was going abroad and whom I cannot locate. I took the car to a VAG garage who ran diagnostics and gave me the report to a another garage that they referred me too. This garage was fully booked so I took it to another garage. Not sure if I am allowed to say their name. They informed me that the car should still be under warranty...and that's why I have tried to locate the owner and seem to have failed so I will contact Volkswagen in Milton Keynes (though I have already paid). I'm afraid that I obviously am not good with this sort of thing and just don't know what to do? So would appreciate any help :(
  7. I own a Skoda Octavia, M1, 1395cc, 2018, 43500miles. I have no problems changing into any gear at all, No sounds or anything unusual. However, when driving I get the message Transmission in Emergency Mode No Reverse Gear and a triangular warning light and engine shaped warning light appears. I stop the car, restart and resume my journey. This occurrs intermittently The garage replaced the mechatronic unit. This took 10 days as they had to order the part from Germany. Not five minutes from the garage the same error message appeared so I took it back. 2 days later they returned my car and related the problem to something to do with loading software. I have since travelled 584 miles and the same problem occurred today. On my way back home it occurred for second time this time with the engine shape warning light coming on as well. I am taking it back to garage tomorrow but hoped someone out there may have had same problem and resolved it. Please HELP
