  1. just as an update incase anyone finds this thread. "Clutch tolerances" when plugged in with specialist mechanic. New clutch and flywheel needed. £1600 roughly
  2. There is an engine tuner place down the road from me, i can always try there and get a quote or see what they say.
  3. Yeah this is a dealer in my area. I explained the new gearbox and the issues etc, but yeah, they have not seen the car or plugged it in. They only have the Reg plate
  4. Skoda contacted me today. I need a...... "basic settings and road test for gearbox rather than a software update". £144, will be getting this booked in. Fingers crossed
  5. Paperwork says new gearbox and clutch module
  6. Yeah they have "cleared the error code" that was originally there (i seen paperwork) so from there end, they did their bit and nothing for them to look at now. But yeah, £1200 is a lot of money for anybody. I will make a few phone calls locally and see what can be done and get a few quotes. The only local DSG specialist is the guy I went to I believe. But they dont have the "software" capabilities. Thanks for youre help
  7. hello mate you made some helpful replies, and you are very active in my BRISKODA searches I've made today as I'm still trying to fix my car issue. It is having an issue when changing into 1st gear. I get an initial accelerator feedback..... followed by 1 second of nothing...and then the gear kicks in a 2nd time. I've had to turn off stop/start and hill assist etc as the brakes would stick or car would not pull away. i took the car to gearbox centre today having completed 500 miles since they fitted a new control module as they wanted to check it after 500 miles. No fault codes whatsoever, they took it for a drive and said a possible software update may fix the issue. They recommended a local garage locally and also Skoda dealership. Another option they recommended would be taking it to a tuner. What would you recommend if you were me. I spent £1200 and it didnt fix the car so im worried im ploughing more money into a problem that may be permanent and I can just sell the car to skoda (with no fault codes and a recent new module) and cut my loss Thanks for any help
  8. Sorry yes i haven't access to the paperwork currently but control module/control unit could be the one. It definitely says 'control module' on paperwork.
  9. Does anybody have any suggestions whatsoever for this error? I am going to wait 500 miles until the gearbox has 'bedded in' but its not looking good if there is currently no fault codes and it only worked for a couple days. struggling to pull out of junctions as i get a very brief 'acceleration' which then cuts out for a second or 2 so im stranded when pulling away. i have turned autohold off as was not letting me pull away. Im sure it is all linked Any input grateful Thanks
  10. update just in case this helps anyone. Gearbox centre put in a whole new gearbox after inspecting the car and finding error codes. New gearbox was £1200 Car worked for a couple days, 2 cylinder mode kicked in often (this hasnt been the case since the issue arose, start stop, autohold etc worked lovely a week later...... 2 cylinder mode gone again. The car lags still going into gear 1. Autohold is very sticky I think i may have to cut my losses on the car. No error codes whatsoever
  11. Thankyou I actually pulled up at a gearbox centre today and he said just double check oil again and all he can do is take it for a spin and check computers etc so ill book him in next week possibly
  12. UPDATE. Started getting lag again. Pulling away at junctions. Auto hold keeping me stuck etc. and today "oil service due now". Oil level has been perfect all week after fresh oil and filter 6 days ago but i didnt reset interval after i did change stupidly, so likely not that. Few mechanic friends have said possible gearbox issue.
  13. Did an oil change today. Changed filter also. Instant difference. I must have got confused with the dates of last oil change. Thanks guys
  14. Cheers guys ill take a look at the oil more closely today
  15. Car has done 60000 miles. Spark plugs replaced at 40,000 miles. No fault codes found by 2 mechanics. Oil is always fine when checked. I thought this was a way of skoda telling me to do an oil change.
  16. Yeah oil is absolutely fine. Dipstick perfect etc
  17. Apologies if already discussed. I know there was a huge 2019 1.5 tsi kangaroo issue but that seems to be more of a 'judder." For the last week i have been experiencing a lag when pulling away. For example, if traffic lights go green i touch accelerator and i 'feel' it move very briefly before cutting out for a second or two, i get nothing. Its getting to the point where im paranoid im going to get beeped for not moving, or im starting to touch accellerator 2 seconds before im due to leave a junction to 'warm it up' and get past the lag. No faults. Car passed MOT today and they couldnt find anything. The only thing i can possibly see online is a software update? I hslave recently began getting the 'check oil' amber light but i am due an oil change (its not low etc). So i cannot work out why its started. This continues for duration of drive. It doesnt stop on a warmer day or as car warms etc. its a permanent fixture for the moment Any help apreciated
  18. Update. Fixed Took it to local garage i know and explained problem. He rang later in afternoon to say theres no faults etc so maybe come down to explain to him again. Went down and door working perfectly. He said there was no fault codes and all he did was reset the module?. Anyway. All done
  19. Guys. Appreciate your answers. Thank you very much I will try some of these solutions and hopeully get it sorted today Thanks again for help
  20. Hi not sure if this is right place but ill go for it because i cant lock passenger door and currently parked against a wall to stop potential theft 2017 se l executive hatch Noticed yesterday the 10mph auto locking was constantly going off and on while in traffic. Yesterday my wife couldnt open her door... But i could open from inside Today i went to work and locked car but passenger door didnt lock The central locking button on console lit up but made a double-unlock noise when pressed to unlock. It finally locked but then wouldnt unlock until i unlocked door from inside. Centre console lock now doesnt even light up and i cant lock passenger door Checked owner manual and these forums etc... and got my AA employee mate to look but no idea. Will likely book in to skoda tomorow but incase anyone has had similar with easy fix Thanks Will also post update for future users
  21. I want to do the same (wrap the chrome). Does anyone know how that would work with the front grill sensor? I want a sportline grill so that can be wrapped but that sensor is shiny and i take it cannot be touched? any solutions?
  22. Yep I was wrong, poster above said the same. Still getting used to it....put it this way.....took me 2 days to realise I could open the boot using the fob haha
  23. Had a Mazda for nearly 10 years, after saving and reading tons of reviews, I knew i had to get a Skoda Octavia or Superb. Ideally the Estate but a 2017 SE L Executive Hatch DSG became available nearby with 40000 miles on it. 2 or 3k cheaper than others on Autotrader etc. Went up next day, and now I have it. So far, I absolutely love it. Only fault I can find is that there are no automatic wipers, and even though there is a boot button inside the car and on my keys, i wanted it to open and close using this button haha. Will soon delete the chrome around the window trim and make it look more 'sportline' but loving it and used this forum as a source of information plenty of times before pulling the trigger
