  1. I'm also getting the intermittent warning light! Struggling to find part numbers for the PVC or Canister though - can someone point me in the right direction? How straight forward is replacement?
  2. That you likely have an issue with your PCV. Another example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReyIpPCnwJ4
  3. See if the high pitch noise goes away when you pull out the oil dipstick.
  4. High pitched noise could be the PCV? Does it sound like this: https://vid.me/BrcW
  5. Air-con off (ECON on) in the winter and some slightly warm water over the windscreen when iced over works for me. A couple of minutes max before setting off.
  6. Not that anyone cares (!) but this was down to the PCV valve. You can confirm by pulling the dipstick whilst you can hear the whistling- the noise will disappear. New PCV valved fitted for ~£50. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReyIpPCnwJ4
  7. Started the car a minute ago, completely cold. No noise this time, but I didn't get the car fully up to temp. Any ideas on what the noise in the video could be? I'm tempted to take it for a short drive to see if it reappears...
  8. I've just started it again, noise was immediately present so doesn't seem temp related. There is a lot of pressure being released and a noise of water 'moving around' when the engine is turned off. Sounds like it's from the front of the engine but it's really hard to suss out exactly where. I'll get it booked into my garage tomorrow or Monday, but would be good to get an idea of what it could be- so I can either try and take a look or prepare my wallet. I'm not going to drive it until then...
  9. Very odd noise started today, it's a highish pitch squeal that doesn't seem to be set off by anything (e.g. accelerating, braking or cornering). When you turn the engine off it sounds like it is releasing a lot of pressure (not so clear in the video) plus the audible squeal that occurs. I can hear it from the drivers wheel area fairly consistently when the engine is running, but it does get louder whilst driving. Any ideas? Thanks https://vid.me/BrcW Edit: I should mention that the coolant level light has come on a few times recently- but the coolant level in the expansion tank hasn't moved and looks fine. The level sensor for the coolant is in the expansion tank itself- or is it somewhere else in the system?
  10. Mine does the same, hasn't caused me any issues yet(!).
  11. Turning the air-con off and running on "ECON" mode has completely resolved my windows misting up after starting the car.
  12. Are you sure it's not a diesel? Kidding, not sure what could be causing a big reduction in the limiter. How does it feel when you hit 5k? Have you tried keeping the power down for a few seconds after it happens or do you immediately back off?
  13. Is there a break down of parts on the invoice?
  14. Had any issues running 505 spec with the TFSI rather than 504/507?
  15. Excuse my ignorance, but what does engine oil have to do with maintaining the DMF? I have some vibration in the car when idling, and there is a bit of "rumbling" I guess when pulling away. I've also had 2-3 times recently where it's been hard to engage 1st gear and I've had to clutch out and back in to engage. Are these DMF failure symptoms?
  16. I'd be tempted to go for an Italian tune up... Warm the car up, then give it a really decent push through 2/3/4th gear a few times. It's also worth cruising at a higher speed for a little while as well- you'll want to be out for 30-40 minutes in total. See what it looks like after that?
  17. Mine normally needs a top up every 3-4 weeks (500-600 miles) and I normally top up 200-250ml. I've only had the vRS a few months though so still learning what it needs. Some people have suggested only filling up to 2/3s of the dipstick, which is what I do. For me this is just under a the circle on the dipstick.
  18. Can you link us to one of the adverts you have up? How long have you had the car for sale?
  19. Oddly enough my vRS is 07, red, and 48k miles when I bought it- the drivers mat had a lot of wear on it. Mainly around where the heal sits on the accelerator pedal. They're fairly cheap to buy new, so not much of an issue.
  20. Town driving seems to be around 25MPG for me, ~35MPG on a run at 3k rpm. (TFSI)
  21. I've experienced this phenomenon, it's horrible. Detailed my previous car (black), after the detail it looked amazing. A couple of weeks later I gave it a wash and suddenly the entire front end, including the bonnet was covered in very visible white stone chips. I tried quick detailer, some alcohol swabs- also tried tar remover. Nothing helped, I found it softened a bit over several washes... but never managed to get it back to how it was prior to the detail. I was tempted to re-polish/wax with different products but I sold the car before I got around to it. Try polishing the area with something that doesn't produce much powder so SRP probably isn't the best choice, then try a different wax then you did last time, assuming you waxed the car (you should have!).
  22. Noticed this the other day, on full lock I get a bit of a groan/noise. Nothing drastic, but noticeable. From what I've read (in the manual and on Briskoda) the MKII vRS has electromechnical power steering and therefor has no fluid. Is this correct? If so, what could be causing the noise- is this normal?
  23. The domain was registered yesterday, I'd stay well clear personally... http://www.whois-search.com/whois/Autotrader-dealer.com Updated Date: 04-jan-2014 Creation Date: 04-jan-2014 Expiration Date: 04-jan-2015
  24. So, turn on "ECON" in the wetter months? Does this not go against the "use or it lose it" advice for keeping the system healthy?
