  1. Best I've ever had on the trip computer was 80.9mpg for a 126 mile trip from Brum to Leeds. I think the most I've had out of a tank though is 485 miles. I just fill up as normal, none of this extra tank gubbins! I usually get about 430 miles on a tank, with normal commuting, 15 miles each way.
  2. I have a 1.4 8v and was getting about 220 out of a tank, thats all short journeys <5 miles. I serviced it (plugs, filters, oil) and that improved to about 250. Got myself a vagcom cable and ran the diagnostics and the engine coolant temp sensor was giving an error, I've just replaced it and am awaiting the results. I've also got a new fuel filter but not got round to fitting it yet. I think with having the vRS and getting 50mpg on every journey is spoiling me a bit.
  3. I've had this a few times on my 2001 Comfort, it got serious when the boot wouldn't lock, the dealers replaced the convenience unit (I think that was what it was called) and it was OK for a while, it went again and they replaced it again, been ok since, probably 3 years now.
  4. Thanks Uwe, I didn't see how it could have done either, but thought I'd post to see if anyone knew. I would probably think its a bit of a quirk from the battery being almost drained, your marvellous software has shown up the battery low voltage (01598 - Drive Battery Voltage) so it needs changing, I would say that upon disconnection and reconnection the problem will hopefully disappear.
  5. Cheers ap0gee, I just saw your temp sensor change pdf - nice one, I'll be changing that tomorrow night!
  6. Morning All, I used my vagcom cable for the first time last night, found one fault, the temp sensor so its all working. I foolishly ran the tool with just the ignition on but not started so managed to run enough juice out of the battery so it wouldn't start - jumped it off my vRS and now ok though. However, since using it, I now have six of the small LED type lights on the high middle brake light permanently lit, the three at the left and three at the right. Has anyone ever had this issue before? I would doubt that vagcom has changed this, and am wondering if maybe its a symptom of the battery going mostly flat? The car is a 2001 Y reg Fabia Comfort, 1.4MPi 8v engine. Any ideas? Thanks Mike
  7. I have a Y Reg 1.4 8vMPI Comfort and suffer the same stuttering at start up and poor consumption - Get around 230-240 to the beep from a full tank. I was getting about 210 to the beep but did a full service on it myself and am now getting the extra 20 - 30 out of it. I've ordered a cable for VAG-COM so I can check any faults, might be worth a go doing this yourself.
  8. I've only had mine a fortnight but twice it has gone off when I closed the garage door, maybe it is a bit too sensitive? If it becomes a problem I will take it into the dealers - maybe they can adjust the sensitivity?
  9. Thanks again for all the replies. Although I wasn't too happy with the deal, the 0% finance also means I don't pay any of the acceptance fees or option to purchase fees (or whatever they are called) I think the latter was over £100 in itself on my last one. I'm really pleased with the car, only done about 50 miles in it so far, its just been doted over in the garage really!
  10. lol, your powers of detection have been good to you! I raised my concerns with the dealer yesterday and got a very understanding shrug of the shoulders. I suppose I'll know for next time anyway. As for the car, frickin' 'ell its fast! The Doris took it out last night and was shocked by it too. One thing I will say is that the welding on the boot (the bit just below the badges which looks like it joins the number plate section) is a bit ropy, all the others were the same but my 2001 Comfort is far better. Once again, thanks for all the info, much appreciated.
  11. Wow, thanks for all the replies, its very much appreciated. Lots to get my teeth into there.
  12. I know, its not good is it! I joined to find out some info, I think it was for my 1.4 mpi, which I've still got, fond the info and I never came back sadly. I always dreamed of getting a vRS but couldn't afford it when I bought my Comfort, but a lots changed since 2001 and now two cars in the family is going to mean a great deal of convenience so here I am. I've also bought a load of gear to self service my Comfort so will no doubt take part in more discussions. Seems I have the bug!
  13. I've been a member here for a while but never posted before today. I'm picking up a new vRS at lunchtiime, my first car for six years, and prior to that about 10 years, so I'm not too experienced. First things first, I took the interest free option, which is fine and worth a few quid in itself. However, I got absolutely no other concessions, despite my attempts, I bought my last car from this dealer so I guess I was expecting a bit of loyalty, even a tank of diesel would have been nice, but no. Anyway, I signed up for it. I'm then asked to call in and sign the finance agreement and discuss some FSA issues. I was told it'd take about an hour. An hour and a half later and all I got was pressure sales for the folowing:- Gap Insurance
