New Karoq, first impressions and comparison
I never used our in previous Skodas but it was a neat feature to have, like a strap to hold the boot floor up or a towing Eye which I nhabe noticed they no longer include.

Sat Nav issue
I’m wondering if this is a cost issue, would they have to pay more to access full postcode data?

Sat Nav issue
Gives me great faith in their product what i cannot understand is how a company with the resources of VAG could get it so wrong, did no one actually try this system before it was rolled out. I suppose if I wanted engineering integrity I should not have gone with a company who thought it was OK to install software to deliberately cheat the emissions testing.

Sat Nav issue
Have just just spoken to Skoda customer services apparently it was a decision not to use postcodes but to use coordinates instead. What I do not understand is why they think that’s better, when asked for my address I asked if he wanted my coordinates, guess what, he wanted a postcode.

Sat Nav issue
Just copy and pasted this from a VW forum. HELP !!! I have exactly the same issue with my T-Roc, delivered October 2020. Many T-Roc owners have the same issue, as do many with the ID3, Golf Mk8 and other 2020 models - all those with the new MIB3 infotainment system. Basically, the system does not recognise UK postcodes. If a UK postcode is entered, the system just shows it as being "Offroad" with GPS co-ordinates. No town or street name is shown. In addition, all recent destinations are also shown as being "Offroad", which means they are totally useless. surely and company as large as VAG group should be able to sort this and while they are about it sack the person responsible.

Sat Nav issue
Hi everyone, picked up our Karoq Se Drive on Monday and has the latest sat nav(MIB3) system fitted. We seem to have an issue as every time you input a six digit postcode it says off-road and gives the coordinates below the word “off-road”. We have spoken to the dealer and she checked on her Karoq and apparently this is how it works, it does not show you the road where you are going, her colleague suggested the way you have to use it is to then zoom into the location and see where it’s taking you, he explained it shows the coordinates so that the sos system will know where you are. I would like to know what idiot thought this would be a good system, if you input the post code incorrectly you could end up going in the wrong direction. Every other Sat Nav we have used, including a VW Golf, Yeti and Octavias all show you the road once you have put the post code in, then ask what house number. I cannot believe that someone designed this system so that you put the postcode in and hope it’s right. Are Skoda losing the plot!

New Karoq, first impressions and comparison
Didn’t know about the red LEDs I’ll look for the and yes the problem will be solved. I will look at how to keep the boot floor up but for a 10p strap I think Skoda could have provided one.

New Karoq, first impressions and comparison
It’s an interesting philosophical debate, if you pay less for something but get proportionately less have you saved anything or simply bought something cheaper. Don’t get me wrong I think Skodas are great value for money and my Karoq seems like a really nice car but but leaving things like a strap off the boot floor doesn’t fit in with Skodas simply clever sales line. the fact I’m am comparing a Skoda with a Mercedes says a lot for how far Skoda have come.

New Karoq, first impressions and comparison
In the scheme of things is not a great issue as the amount of times I need to go under the boot floor is not very often, just feels a little cheap, I am sure my Octavias all had a way of holding the boot floor up and a handle to pull it up rather than a hole punched through to stick your finger in.

New Karoq, first impressions and comparison
Hi everyone, picked up our new Karoq yesterday. 1.5 tsi, SE Drive DSG. Have to say it’s a lovely car. These are my fist impressions and a few comparisons to our previous car, a Mercedes B200 DCT. First of the engine in the Skoda sounds like a sewing machine compared to the merc whose engine sounded like a bag of spanner’s and sounded very raucous when revved. The DSG gearbox seems to change gear much more precisely than Mercedes DCT box, always seemed to slur into gear although you couldn’t feel the change. I am a little dubious about the mapping on the sat nav, put in our address tot come home and it said our address was off road, interesting as Apple, Google, Waze, TomTom, Garmin and Mercedes sat nav had no trouble, although it did bring us to our road, also coming round the M25 it told us to keep right to exit onto the M11, had we done so it would have kept us on the M25, what it should have said was keep left onto to junction and then keep right to go onto the M11 northbound. I’ll have to see if there is an update. A little disappointed they have done away with the removable boot light/torch, I thought was a neat touch. The boot floor is a little cheap and there is no way to keep it up, on the merc there was a strap you could hook up and on our VW Polo there are clips to keep the floor up, with the Karoq you either take it out completely or struggle underneath it. I know they are not the only manufacturer to do it but why are the interior reading light buttons not illuminated, it seems odd that they expect you to put a light onto be able to find the switch for the lights. I would say the ride quality is better than the Merc, handling I haven’t tried yet. It drives very nicely and seems to have plenty of power, although as it’s not run in I’m being very gentle with it. Not convinced having the cruise control on the indicator stalk is better that the standard VW controls on the steering wheel, but definitely better than the Merc system of having another stalk just below the indicator stalk, the amount of times we have flashed the headlights instead of putting the cruise control on! Looking forward to seeing how it goes once its ,all settled in.

Cleaning touchscreen
No doubt there are good discounts to be had, what surprised me was the extra £1000 for our trade in above what some dealers were offering (£1500 at one dealer) which brought the cost to change down to what we wanted to spend, stock car so no chance to add options as I would have added heated seats. Have to say the virtual cockpit looks great and is probably the way all cars will go, probably cheaper than dials for the manufacturer as well.

It’s new from their stock, we started looking mid Feb hoping for a pre March bargain so was amazed to be offered it on the new 21 plate. I suppose it’s a about the luck of the timing, if you go in and they need one more sale to hit their target you get the deal.

In probably 35 years of buying new cars we have never been given a full tank of fuel, so this was definitely an unexpected bonus, still can’t work out why we got such a good deal unless they were desperate for March registrations.

I was astounded when sent the virtual handover to be told it was filled up with fuel, that’s a first for us. Regarding being over cautious I can only say medically I am in a category that statically will not do well if I get Covid. I am aware that you need to transfer Covid from your hands to your mouth/yes/nose to get it but it is very difficult not to forget and touch your face. if they forget something on the PDI I’ll take it back for them to rectify it, can’t do that if you catch Covid from them. remember you just because your paranoid doesn’t mean their not out to get you.

I know they say they disinfect the car but can you trust them. Will they really clean all the touch points in the car, Tesco insist all their delivery drivers are fully Covid compliant but our driver this morning didn’t wear a mask!, so I would sooner clean it myself and be sure, overkill perhaps but I have managed so far to avoid catching Covid and would hate to do so now when some sort of end is on sight.

Cleaning touchscreen
Good morning, can anyone tell me the best product to use to disinfect the touch screen on a new Karoq. Can I use a normal antibacterial wipe or has it got a special coating which would be damaged, picking up a new car on Monday and want to clean the interior touch pints before we drive away.

The new normal
Hello everyone, click and collecting our new Karoq 1.5 SE Drive DSG on Monday. Who would have thought a few years ago you could buy a car without ever Visiting the showroom, click and collect was something you only did and B and Q, I feel very brave as we have never Even sat in a Karoq, although we have owned probably 20+ Skodas including 2 Yetis and numerous Volkswagens so feel confident we will like it. We were surprised to be offered a stock car with almost £5000 off and a better trade in than any other dealer, as it’s a stock car it hasn’t got heated seats which is the only thing extra I would have liked, I was expecting to be told we would have to take it by the end of Feb so was elated to be told we could have it on the 1st March and a 21 plate. Still not sure why we got such a good deal but gift horses and mouths etc. What helped our decision to buy without trying first was I could not find a bad review or you tube video that did not say what a fantastic car it was. Let’s hope it proves to be as good as our previous VAG group cars.
