  1. Many thanks for quick reply. My car doesn't have stop start so hopefully it will be a simple replacement thanks again for the advice.
  2. I think my car battery is over 10 years old and required a jump start this morning so think that a replacement is due. I was just wondering if anyone has any recommended batteries and a method for replacing the battery. Or is it as simple as just remove old battery replace with new one? Many thanks
  3. We had this on the the back of a mark 2 estate and it worked fine https://www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk/products/britax-romer-dualfix-m-plus-360-spin-car-seat-midnight-grey We found the these people really helpful https://incarsafetycentre.co.uk They said that the Skoda has a very shallow seat and a bit of an angle to it.
  4. Hi would be grateful for any thoughts on the below. The car has done 110,000 miles- full service history, spark plugs replaced about a year ago HT leads about 3 year ago. Turbo actuator was replaced about 3 months ago. timing change replaced at 81,000 4 years ago Tested all the HT leads with a multimeter and seem okay. Very occasional when the car is accelerating it stutters a little bit- seems a bit like a miss fire but I am not sure- it will just happen once then be fine. This happened once on a 1 hour drive. Garage had a quick look and couldn't find any issues- no error codes. I was just wondering if any one has any thoughts. I don't really want to start replacing parts in a random chase to solve it. I am not sure if it would be worth replacing the ignition coil but that may not be the issue. Its not really causing a problem but I don't want it to get worse or suddenly stop working. Many thanks
  5. Hello Understand these engines are chain driven however I was wondering if there is a need to change the auxiliary belt after so many miles years and if you do recommend changing as a precaution do you recommend getting a kit and changing the pulleys too? Just found this guide on how to change it but I am after the service internal Many thanks Jack
  6. Thanks again for all your help and time
  7. Thanks for your help the gearbox code is LMG.
  8. Many Thanks the car is about 10 years old and has nearly done 100k just wondered what the best oil to use is. I should have mentioned that it was manual.
  9. Hi I was just wondering what gearbox oil should be used and if it is worth changing it. Skoda live chat said change every 60,000 a skoda garage I rang said it was a lifetime fluid. I was just looking for views on if it is worth changing the gearbox oil and if so what oil to use and how much, i think this is 2.1 litres. Many thanks
  10. Hi, in the end I got the job done at https://adsutton.co.uk/ in March Cambridgeshire. This was only done a couple of days ago, but the communication from the garage was great and they were very clear on what parts were being replaced. They charged 5 hours labour in the end to replace the chain. I asked them to keep the old chain etc photos below. As my car was main in July 2012 it had the new 'improved' chain. Hopefully I won't have to get this replaced again.
  11. On the You tube video comments you can see that there is some discussion about that tool and if that double crankshaft sprocket is a spare part or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge4QED-K9cY This Russian forum provides details of the process: https://vagdrive.com/threads/zamena-cepi-grm-na-dvigatele-1-2-tsi-cbza-cbzb-cbzc-semejstvo-ea111.417/ and details the tools required. Can understand why the labor costs for this are so high- I am guessing it might be best to get an official Skoda garage to do the job- but it is a hard call given that the cost this is probably about 1/4 of the value of the car. If there are any recommendations in the East of England that would be great we are in Ely north of Cambridge. Thanks again
  12. @X manand @sepulchravemany thanks, I am not sure if I am going to get that garage to do the work as the parts they priced are very higher and it looks like they are trying to cut corners not replacing the bottom sprocket- it is hard to find a good garage that know what they are doing.
  13. Many thanks for all the information above I am getting really confused by this. I have got a quote from a local garage which used to be skoda approved isn't anymore claimed the skoda franchise cost to much. Anyway the part they said would be needed for a timing change change are listed here: 03F109158G – TIMING CHAIN 03F109507F – TENSIONER CHAIN 03F109469E – TRACK 03F109509F – GUIDE RAIL 03F109571F – SPROCKET 03F115225 – DRIVE CHAIN Oil pump 03F115121B – SPROCKET Oil pump D176501A1 – SILICONE ADHESIVE SEALANT D176600M1 – SILICONE SEALANT N90256202 – SCREW HEX HD N90987302 - 12 POINT SOCKET SHOULDER SCREW N10734501 – 12 POINT BOLT (COMBI) N10734401 – 12 POINT BOLT (COMBI) N90365901 – OVAL HEXAGON SOCKET HEAD BOLT WHT004068 – SUPPORT BOLT 03C115561H- OIL FILTER The ones highlighted in bold are contained in the kit 03F 198 158B I think. However the parts list they provided doesn't include 03F 105 209G crank sprocket I asked why not and they claimed that that part wasn't applicable to my car and that it was a none replaceable part. I would be grateful for any thoughts on this. my engine details are Engine number: CBZB 95019 Date on engine stamp: 18.7.12 Mlada Boleslav production. I believe that I have one of the newer TSI engines but cannot get my engine number to line up the ones which are quoted iengine number after CBZ*462774 my engine number appears to be missing a digit? I was also wondering if the engine is fitted with the newer chain setup and a chain rattle is heard is the risk of chain breaking the same or less than on earlier engines? Sorry for all the questions.
  14. Many thanks both for you posts. It's extremely annoying that the engine has a chain that is fitted for life but is obviously not fit for purpose but Skoda won't do anything about it. I got the chain measured when it was under warranty and it was within the limits, given the age of the car and the fact that it has been serviced in many different places I am fairly sure that Skoda will not give me anything. I think I have an engine that is the older style because it has the older style plastic PCV. Thanks again Jack
  15. I have a 2012 Skoda Fabia with a 1.2 TSI engine. Details are as follows: Engine number: CBZB 95019 Date on engine stamp: 18.7.12 Mlada Boleslav production. I think this should mean that I should have the latest version of the engine and should not experience any start up rattle noise- http://m.australiancar.reviews/reviews.php#!content=recalls&make=Skoda&model=Fabia&gen=822 However on start up I am getting timming chain rattle. I took the car to a local garage former approved skoda garage and they are saying that the timing chain needs to be replaced- although they no longer have the tool needed to measure the chain to see if it has stretched or not. I am also not sure how my engine number relates to the engine numbers listed as being when the timing chain changed: Production change Optimised timing chain from engine number: •CBZ* 462774 (Mlada Boleslav). Any help would be appreciated.
  16. sepulchrave, many thanks for your reply. I have just seen this thread here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/442419-catch-can-on-a-12-tsi/ and https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/435685-oily-smell-in-car-skoda-yeti-12-tsi/ I think my only option is to leave it as it will be such a big job for the garage to do and hopefully it will be okay.
  17. Hi, I was following really clear instructions here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/484634-12tsi-crankcase-breather-hose-one-way-valve-replacement-guide/ but unfortunately a small part of the valve and part of the grommet fell into the crank case- I tried to fish them out and also vacuum them out- but this didn't work. I was just wondering what my options are. I guess they are 1. leave it and hope for the best 2. pay a garage to do something - any advice on what this might be would be great Many thanks for reading.
