  1. Hello, For anyone interested and pulling their hair out with this fault. Skoda said there was corrosion on a plug in the passenger sill. I had another mechanic come and look and he went through all the wiring on that side of the car but found nothing. He happened to mention that the fault was a communication error and so I went back to Google and instead of looking for no Start I looked for communication error no start. I found one post that mentioned a similar problem with an Audi TT and that it eventually turned out to be relay 645. I bought one off Ebay for a tenner and low and behold it started first time. after a day it cleared the engine fault and the car has been fine for the last two months. Hopefully this helps someone suffering with this strange fault.
  2. Hi, new here. I have a strange fault with starting. It’s a dsg. When I turn the key no glow plug light comes on and the car is just dead. Various faults start beeping, tires flat, gearbox fault, etc. If I keep my foot on the brake it will eventually start after a few minutes on its own without touching the key. Sometimes I will turn the key off and on until finally the glow plug light comes on and it will then start. I took it to Skoda who charged £90 for a scan and an hour to check it but they had no idea, they said wiring and battery ok and wanted another £132 to investigate further but were too busy to do it until after the weekend so I took the car back (they also wouldn’t give me the scan results). I’ve tried a new battery and the 511 relay but still have the problem. I do a lot of short journeys for work and sometimes it will start fine after it’s warmed up but other times if it’s off for longer than five minutes I have to sit and wait for it to decide to start numerous times a day. The only thing I know for sure is that as soon as I see the glow plug light it’s going to start. Any help would be appreciated.
