  1. Interesting! I might look into that.....
  2. There may well be extra issues relating to the 4wd models but my car is fwd only. As an aside this is the first car I've had putting 220bhp through the front wheels so I find it quite easy to get the traction control light flashing! I either need to moderate my driving style or save for a 4wd next time 😁
  3. Quick update...... got an unused 16" temporary spare (205/55 R16) from Ebay (£79) and ordered the fitting kit from Skoda Parts Czechoslovakia (£67). Car runs fine with it on apart from TPMS flagging up a pressure difference. All installed in boot floor well and looks nice and 'factory' which I suppose it is! Thanks for all the input. Cheers
  4. Yes I did see your post thanks. There is the same variance % between my 235/45 R18 wheels and both the 'official' Skoda spacesaver options of 205/55 R16 and 125/70 R18. I assume that the systems on the car can handle this variance? If it's going to disable the cruise control while using a spacesaver I can live with that. Actually not a huge fan of cruise control anyway! Cheers
  5. You'd think in this day and age that puncture proof tyres might be possible! But I guess the tyre companies don't have much incentive to make them. Had my 220 3 weeks now and loving it. It's a 2017 with 4600 miles on it when I got it so a good find. Plenty quick enough so the 280 must be very exciting! Take care
  6. That's useful info thanks. I'm going to try the 205/55 R16 route.
  7. Yes I saw that thanks but my car is 220 BHP so front brakes shouldn't be an issue. 312mm discs I think. I'm going to try a 16" spacesaver first to see if that fits as it puts a bit more rubber on the road than the skinny 18". Cheers
  8. Yes you're right there don't seem to be any 205/50R 18 tyres! I think the 205 width is the most you can get in the well. I've established that the 16" spacesaver comes with 205/55 R16 tyre and the 18" with the skinny 125/70 R18.
  9. I'm not sure if there is a benefit over the 16" spacesaver. However, having spoken to Hortons Skoda today they were adamant that an 18" wheel and kit was what I needed. Also looking at the Caffyns website the categorically say the 16" fitting kit is not for cars with 18" or 19" wheels. It says Restrictions: Not suitable for vehicles with 2,0l TSI/ 206 kW engine or models with 18 or 19″ Alloys Possibly an 18" spare is the current recommended kit? In the meantime I've ordered a 16" spare which, according to guys on here should fit and if it does then I'll worry about getting the related kit. Only had the car 3 weeks so not exactly a Skoda expert yet!
  10. Ok. Same as you I don't do much mileage these days but I'd much prefer to have a spacesaver than using the foam. Although I'd rather not be using either on a motorway hard shoulder! Only ever changed a wheel there once. It was offside and very scary. Even worse these days where the left lane is also the hard shoulder. Crazy idea that's going to cost lives.
  11. Hi Paddy Are you going 18" then?
  12. Thanks Gizmo 2.0 TSI Petrol engine so looks like it will be the 18". You're probably right about the tire size as I was only guessing! 125 is certainly narrow! Cheers
  13. Still confused! Just rang Hortons Skoda with a view to getting a new wheel and kit and they say I need an 18" spare ! Tyre and kit £220 inc VAT.
  14. Thanks all for the input. Just going off to Ebay to see what I can find in the way of 16". If there is an 18" wheel on there can I still fit one of those as an alternative or stick to 16"? Cheers.
  15. Thanks 100andthirty So it looks like the 16" will fit over the brakes. I assume the tyre size on your spare is 205/55? According to my calcs there is only 1% variance between the circumference of that size and the road wheels. But then I did fail O level maths twice!
  16. Thanks Gizmo 2.0 TSI Petrol engine so looks like it will be the 18". You're probably right about the tire size as I was only guessing! 125 is certainly narrow! Cheers
  17. I have a 2017 Superb with 18" wheels fitted with 235/45 R18 tyres. I want to replace the puncture repair kit with a spare wheel and tool kit. I'm a bit confused as to whether I need a 16" or 18" wheel. I assume the 16" spare comes with a 205/55 16 tyre and the 18" spare with 205/50 18 tyre. According to my calculations both of those give close to the rolling circumference of the original tyres. So does it matter which I go for or am I totally barking up the wrong tree!? Thanks
  18. Typo in first message! It's a TSi. Cheers!
  19. Will be taking delivery of my Superb SE L Executive 2.0 TDI DSG next week. After much searching I found the right car in Petrol blue with only 4,300 miles on the clock! So no doubt will be back here soon to 'pick some brains!' In the meantime all the best and take care.
