Hi there, Been toying with this option back and forth for a few years, current family bus (an 06 Seat Altea 2.0tdi) is coming to the big bills time of life and we could do with more space for the growing family/hobbies/kit etc. Its been really reliable to date (had it 15yrs 130kmiles). We often head up North of Central Scotland so would be interested to know if the 4x4 is really worth the hassle of Haldex servicing etc over a FWD. Like the thought of extra grip. Not fussed about Scout or standard tbh, budget-wise it'd be pre facelift Mk3, prob stick to manual as my Wife hates Autos. Other option would be similar age 1.4tsi FWD. Am tempted by Petrol as an alternative if its any good? Either way it'd be on All-season rubber which is what we've ran since that winter storm in 2010 when they were rare. Usage mostly long runs, not commuting, 10k/yr Would appreciate thoughts. Ta Howie
