  1. I'm unsure of what exactly you're trying to establish with that? You're not new on this website and now you get bragging rights as a Skoda expert? You can have that one for me buddy.
  2. If everyone lived by that rulebook, there would never be any interesting projects. Why are you also talking to everyone in such a condescending manner? It's a website for people who mess around with their cars, nothing more. I'd do it, just as a "**** you" now
  3. I'm confused, is the handbrake the defining issue here? If it is, yes, a drum brakes handbrake will be superior, but that isn't saying disc brake handbrakes are completely useless, because they aren't, they're fine. The only car I've ever had the handbrake fail on had drum brakes. I've actually known a friend that used to not use his handbrake at all on his drum braked car because it'd completely seized. Also cost and maintenance tends to have a lot more to do with it than speed. Spec and pricing are a lot more important to most people whilst buying a car than the added safety. Unless of course everyone's buying sports cars. Which they're not. Because not everyone can afford that luxury. So I guess rear discs get us one step closer to that dream.
  4. I wouldn't want to fall out with him over this subject, but this isn't a wrong or right, and this technically isn't anything to do with the motor trade in general, this is a modification to a vehicle regarding the swapping of a axle beam for the benefit of a disc brakes on the rear. To put someone down for wanting to do said modification isn't what I really want to see on a thread I've started, or in this forum really, there's no need for it. If it's something he doesn't agree with he that's fine, but DieselMonte only wanted to know whether or not the modification was possible, not whether or not he agreed with doing said modification. He may have to suffer a lot of fools, but I couldn't see anything foolish which he'd said.
  5. It's fine my dude haha As is stating that it's pointless, if he wants to do it then there's no reason he cannot. Do you drive your car 100mph everywhere? Unless you are flat out everywhere you go, then there would never be a reason to fit discs to any car, as every car is technically slow at the speed limit. Also added stoppability is always a nice safety feature.
  6. Okay, another question, Ibiza 6j coilovers on a 2009 PF Fabia? Would these fit? Top mounting is a single nut, not sure what else would need to be the same to seat correctly. Any help is much appreciated!
  7. Would imagine the gearbox would have to swap as the ratios would be different. 1.8t would be incredible to stick in it but I'll have to do some research on how much work it is and what the mpg figures give, don't want to compromise my incredible £30 a week journey for what my old Leon used to give when it cost me £70 a week back and forth from work
  8. Yeah, but I'm wondering on economy and insurance costs. 1.8t gets 150ish bhp? Not that I'd complain at those figures just wondering whether long term reliability wise and running costs would it be worth it over a smaller N/A unit which has less power but less overall cost.
  9. Sort of also considering an engine transplant on this. Depending on whether the missus gets this or I become too attached to this. I've considered the newer TSI engines, which I'd love to put in, but no idea on the work involved. Even the 12v I've considered putting in, but I know it's a lot of work for 10hp extra. The 1.4 and 1.6 I'm not sure about. I'd love to put a diesel engine in there as really I have far more knowledge of diesel engines than I do petrol, but I sort of enjoy having a petrol again after so long. A lot of choices and not really a big pay off for any of them, just more of something that I think would make this a little more interesting. Definitely a "just buy another car" thing, but just buying something else doesn't make for an interesting project.
  10. I'd actually considered the green line spoiler but I wasn't sure if the spoiler wraps too far around the boot, when the roof is wrapped it might look strange. Might still consider it though, along with the Monte spoiler.
  11. Oh I see, I like that actually, might see if I can get my hands on one in the future as I plan on getting the roof wrapped at some point so it'll be a nice addition when that point comes. So many subtle little differences between these cars it's unreal!
  12. Yeah it was just the diffuser on it's own, took the bumper off and then worked around the best way to fit. Way too hard to fit it whilst the bumper is still on the car. And possibly in the future I might consider cutting it, depends if I could get a decent finish though really. And is the monte spoiler any different? I can never tell the difference of spoilers on the fabias!
  13. Yeah, it was bugging me for a while how basic the car looked, and I'd seen so many projects and such with these incredible looking furbys and I'd decided straight away that I need some kind of rear diffuser and either the sport bumper or a new splitter. Just so happens this monte one was up for cheap! And I hope it isn't as much as a pig as this one was for me! Kind of regret that I won't be able to have a tail pipe but it wouldn't really benefit mine as it moves faster in reverse anyway
  14. Soooo.... http://imgur.com/gallery/fKPaU0b This was an absolute pig to fit Went in with no information on how it would fit, in the end gave up trying to bond it as it just wasn't lining up anywhere and I decided that if it was going to go on then it'd have to be screwed. I'm really pleased with the end result
