  1. Sorry all, and thanks for the replys and offers, i found the sliding clips, i had put them away and boom just like that i remembered where i had put them.. thanks again..
  2. I know this is a really old post but does anyone know where i can get the retaining slide clips that hold the cap in place its a mk1 Fabia btw..
  3. well guys i dropped my car into a back street mechanic, big deal for me as Skoda have always serviced and repaired my fabia, but they royally phucked up my engine and i lost complete faith in them even tho they replaced my 8 yr old engine with a spanking new one, the rig ma role i went thru was unreal, hence my decision, any how apart from the leak i had a broken wishbone and she was due for a service, so i made the decision to use a back street mec that was recommended by a couple of people, turns out it was a great decision, i got a full service, wishbone replaced, new thermostat housing, he had the car for 6hrs rang me to collect her, all tol he billed me 235 euros, which is 200 Sterling, not bad me thinks for the work carried out! happy daze! thanks for the heads up on what was wrong ap0gee.
  4. thanks guys, that was a great help, will get on to Jorily tomo and sort it out, thanks again!
  5. hey all just looking for some advice, seems i sprung a coolant leak and i couldnt find it after trying all the usual things like a torn hose or a loose fitting hose, so i got underneath and took the bellypan off, still couldnt track down the leak,, now i can hear you all say head to a garage and bite the bullet, but i had a really bad experience at my main dealers last year and it was a coolant leak also but it was more hassle than i care to remember,, so for my own sake i wanna be a little bit pre paired going in this time around,, seems i found the source of the leak, it has really gotten worse over the last week so it was easier to spot, i took the engine cover off and i found quite a leak running from what i assumed is the waterpump, i have post the pics below, seems the coolant is leaking from the hole in the second pic, is that the waterpump? and is it just a replacment needed, any and all help would be greatfully appreciated,
  6. just had the same problem with epc warning light, it just came on today and now the missus is barking again about the car, oh well it looks like another trip to the dealers!
  7. i feel for ya big time,i did the same thing,, i burst both wheels on passenger side, not pretty, had it a quick fitters and they re alligned the wheel but after posting it here i realized i need to get this checked good n proper, booked in on wed for the out come,, fingers crossed!
  8. sorry bout that i never realised, its a fabia1, 1.4, classic and that link ya posted , the page doesnt exsist, but thanks anyways!
  9. i ruined 2 wheels buckled both and blew both tyres, passenger side, not nice,, i wont be out in the snow again for a bit,,lol
  10. Point taken and it seems i will have to go futher and have it re checked, cant have my kids in a car im not sure is road worthy, thanks for all the advice guys, the only reason i used quick fit was that my local dealers here really really screwed up my car last year, its a long story that i already posted here but they destroyed the engine and had to put a new one in, now i dont have a mechanic as such, i used to get all my work done by my skoda dealer! now i dont trust em, shame too coz i had a FSH from them up to last year.
  11. ok guys im gonna give it a go but im a little scared about snapping the door panel retaining clips, are they easy to get off? and more importantly are they easy to get back on?
  12. i got away lightly guys, local quick fit popped it up on the lift while i was standing there, checked it out, no damage just needed wheel aligning and tracking and balance sorted, cost me 40 yo yos,
  13. hey all, while playing my stereo loudly in my 2000 fabia 1.4 the rattle and vibration that comes from the speaker housing on the doors becomes unbearable it seems like everywhere on the door is rattling, ive cleared the pockets of stuff, lighters pens nuts bolts spare fuses etc etc, and its still there, the sad part is i love my musik and i end up having to drop the sounds down to stop the noise, any suggestions?
  14. im dropping it in tomo morning to see whats what, will post the damage soon as i know better, thanks guys!
  15. well yesterday afternoon i smacked my fabia off a kerb at about 20 mph, hit front and back wheels (passenger side) and blew both tyres, buckled both wheels bad, any ways she seems to be pulling to the left a little, i imagine my tracking is well off but what other damage do i need to consider?
  16. sorry to hear about your car,i had very similar problems with my dealer here in Ireland, had a new cambelt and new waterpump fitted, cambelt wasnt fitted correctly and destroyed my engine! fortunatley my dealer stood tall and took the blame, and the put a brand new engine in my car, a whole new engine. i did name and shame the dealers here on briskoda and im sure that helped sway their decision. http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/pi55ed-off-main-dealer/111729/
  17. ive got the same problem with the flickering headlights, seems to happen when i drain power from the battery,, ie when the fan is on 4 and the stereo is up pretty high, wud that effect the headlights??
  18. so you had some issues with the steering wheel being off line???? and some bird ****?? wtf?? i had a serious complaint , my engine was ruined by my local dealer, a whole engine,,you had bird ****,,lol, tis almost funny! why bother posting??? jeezuz,, as we have all read, not all dealers are the same, we cant paint em all with the one brush, but bird **** and dodgy steering wheel angle?? detailing?? shiny??
  19. ive now put 900 miles on the new engine and i have to say there isnt a fault with it, apart from somewhere along the line my air filter hose was split and joined wit electrical tape,(like when it heated up it wasnt gonna split??). she sounded like a rally car til i got home and looked under the hood, so i just removed the snapped piece and pulled the hose over and just clipped it back with the spring clip provided, took a pliers to open the clip, its streched a bit but holding for the time being! i coudnt be arsed going back,,thanks but no thanks,, im gonna use my back street dealer!!
  20. well guys i got my car back yesterday and yes everything was as Skoda Waterford said it would be, i got a brand new engine at no cost to me and they also fixed one of the drives at no extra charge, and I am getting all the paper work on monday so i know whats what, and i was told i can also have a copy of the receipt of the new engine, thats nice. also they gave the car a mini valet inside and out, so it seems that Skoda Dealers in Waterford Ireland have really come up trumps on this occasion, i have now got a clock with 60k on it and an engine with 30 miles on it, so it looks like i will be driving this motor for at least a few more years,:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
  21. well the reason i got for the delay in the engine getting here was that skoda waterford were having trouble sourcing a new engine for that year! i dunno i feel like a mushroom, being kept in the dark and fed bull ****! its been a long wait to have my car back, its been gone since mid april, all going well i hope to have her back by next fri, i do hope so as the run around they gave me has no tax disc or nct (mot) certs, also its tyres are cheap, and deadly in the wet, and i dont honestly fancy driving it much longer!
  22. still waiting on Skoda, the engine only arrived in the country yesterday, or so i have been told, i wont see my car for another 2 weeks, this is starting to become a tad tiresome!
  23. had another phone call from my dealers to say that the new engine wont be in the country till the 20th of this month, they have my car off and on now since mid April, saying that the run around they gave me has been no bother its an 02 fabia with the 5k miles on it than my own even tho mine is 2 yr older, i really just want this over and done with, its dragging it heels now!
  24. awesome repiles to my post guys and yes it SEEMS that all is going well but i still have 2 weeks before i get my car back,we shall see!
