Hi, I changed the exterior LH CV joint and waiting to change the other (not clicking yet but cracked boot). There is a vibration on accelerating on 4th and 5th gears which goes away if I lift the gas pedal. I am wondering if I should be replacing the whole shaft. The inner CVs have good boots, but show a bit of dried grease where the bolts are. Any ideas? Cheers

Cut and replaced them with 3.2 mm internal diameter fuel line and perfect, no leaks. Cheers

Hi to all, It seems there is a leak in one of those fabric covered hoses connecting the injectors, the diesel is dripping off the front of the engine. Do I replace those hoses? Cheers

I've talked to a VW mechanic and he said it could be a sticking fuel pump, he said to put in an additive in the diesel which will lubricate the pump. I will keep you posted.

Hi this is a weird one, was traveling around in 4th gear, sudden Los of power and strong juddering from engine compartment, shifted into third engine coped but it was noisy sounding like an old fashion diesel. Stopped, checked timing belt which I recently replaced, started the engine to find out where the noise came from, it ran normally again, no weird noises. Drove off, no problem, got home. Cheers

Yes, I think the old one is a bit long as the tensioner reaches the limit, but although it might be undertensioned, it seems not to slip.

True, the pulley driving the alternator shows no rust because I replaced that but clearly shows an exposed groove. Wrong AC or AC pulley

I had to put the old belt back on because the new one ( wider ) did not fit the AC pulley, so will have to get a new belt to fit

Don't know if it's clear, but check the rust on the tensioner pulley

I finally changed the timing belt, It seems to make less noise, I also made sure there where no air bubbles in the system as suggested above, however I was surprised to find that the air conditioning pulley is narrower than the pulleys driving the alternator etc, so had to replace the existing belt with one of equal width leaving the inner grooves un-used. Is that a common feature, or might my ac been replaced with a different one ?. Cheers

Hello, I've stopped using the car as there is a whirling sound that has appeared after the coolant flush, I believe could be the pump. It is most noticeable between 1500 to 2000 rpm, specially after removing the foot of the accelerator. I am looking at a new belt kit and water pump, it's a 2001 mk1 1.9SDI, and using an online parts web site, plugging in the number plate there are a few variants listed so I am a bit stumped. Does anyone have any ideas?. Cheers

It's OK i it's self bleeding.

Just started coolant flushing (it was green not pink) and the thermostat is OK, plus difficult to remove, under the fuel pump. I was following Hatboy Harveys tutorial but avoiding the thermostat replacement. It suddenly dawned on me that you could have air trapped behind the thermostat but then again it might not, otherwise you wouldn't be able to put the new one in with an empty coolant circuit.
