  1. My Yeti has factory pre fitted wiring and I was quoted £535 for the towbar by skoda dealer. Witter quote £447.24 online including wiring.

  4. It would also be useful if the speedo was actually marked with text in 10 Mph divisions isnstead of the current 20 Mph. Don't Skoda realise that the most common speed limit in the UK is 30MPH which is difficult to read on the current display when driving. Having said that I notice a lot more 40 mph and 50 Mph zones these days. If the politicians have their way we will all be back to a man with a red flag walking in front.
  5. Based on my experience the car should be with your dealer two weeks after build.
  6. Display (Sat Nave) should be higher in the dash so that you can glance at it without taking your eyes off the road.
  7. Ordered my new Yeti on 1st Nov 2012. It was delivered on 1st Jan 2013. I was quoted 12 to 14 weeks. Thanks to Stuart Houghton at West End Garage for keeping me up to date each week by email as the car progressed. 9/11/12 week 45 status code 10 (Planned for week 49) 05/12/12 status code 38 (Waiting at Port) At exit Port of Emden Germany 17/12/12 staus code 39 (shipped) Checked ships leaving Emden for Newcastle and found it was "City of Paris" which had already arrived at the Tyne. 21/12/12 Car delivered to dealer. 1/1/13 Car delivered to Customer.Attached is a picture of the Yeti. No not the car the furry one named Yuri that came with the car. My grandchildren are now fighting over who he belongs to. Yes you guessed it; I am not included.

  9. My dealer said that he could not sell me cars from the showroom because they had to be on display until a new car came in to replace them. My view of this is that if you can't get cars to sell you might as well sell cars in the showroom and at least get some cash for idle stock. Sounds like the VAG tail is wagging the dealer dog.
  10. Colours in the Brochure do not match colours in the showroom and Storm Blue does not seem to be available (again). Rosso Brunello is more of a brownie red than the wine red it should be but then I think most of the metalic colours for the Yeti range are too dark and do not show off the vehicle to best advantage. Must be a VAG thing because Audi and VW seem to suffer from the same problem.
  11. The other problem is that if you want to trade in a vehicle with a long new vehicle lead time. Then dealers will not guarantee a price for your old car and it may depreciate by as much as £150 per month while you wait for yor shiny new Skoda to turn up. My experience of Fords is such that I tend to avoid them.
  12. Telephone exchanges generally don't report CLIs for multi-lines but rely on the multi-line system to report a CLI. As has been stated on most multi-lne systems there is an option to set the CLI or even set more than one for splitting up departments. Incoming foreign calls generally don't have CLIs so you may see "Foreign" in the phones display. The other common one is for the phone to display "Unknown" when no CLI is set.
  13. Some people are incapable of learning. On the other hand try trading your Skoda in for a new one with a long delivery lead time and you will certainly feel as if your ass has been kicked by SKODA.
  14. Went to the dealers the other day to order a Yeti and they informed me it would be up to 6 months for delivery. If the backlog of orders is this big can't be much wrong with the car unless they are taking short cuts to speed up production. Mind you there is someting seriusly wrong with Skoda management if they ca't sort the problem out.
  15. My wife just says please hold and I will find him/her for you. Then lays the phone down next to the radio playing Classic FM. They usually don't last more than a couple of minutes.
  16. It's usually people around that age (and mine) that can remember when Skoda's were pretty awful. It takes a very long while to change peoples opinion once it has been soured. However these days Skoda are building a reputation for producing good value reliable cars. The youthful in heart or body will love the VRs versions while us oldies will go for the comfort of other versions. My daughter and Son in Law did not think much of my Octavia Estate purchase until they had had a few rides and when they traded in their Ford Mondeo estate what did they buy. Yeah, an Octavia estate.
  17. Don't know if anybody has mentioned it but Graham Chatham (Edinburgh and Dunfermline) is now West End Garage. Arnold Clark also apparently has an Edinburgh franchise. (Not my favourite people due to past issues with a Volvo). Took my Octavia L & K in for service. MOT and repair the other day. Its now 5 years old. My wife and I both think it is a great car. The repair was a failure of the ESP as indicated by a light on the dash panel. Having taken it in for check I was told that it was the electronics that had failed an that the replacement part was not in stock and would have to be ordered. I deferred having it done for a fortnight so as to get the MOT, repairs and service all done together. Duly dropped the car off at Dunfermline on the appointed date. Got a phone call to say they had found another problem and the car would have to be carted off to Edinburgh. I was offered a replacement car which I declined. Day 2 another phone call to say another part, not in stock, required. Day 3 phone call to say the car was done and the advisory things that might be required included an optional DSG gearbox oil change. This surprised me because I would have thought this would be part of the service routine. Any way I had noticed that the DSG was a bit slow to engage on hills and had the oil change (£80) done. This has made an amazing difference and it is now obvious with hindsight that I had not noticed a gradual deteriation in performance of the DSG. This does however beg the question as to why Skoda have not made this a standard part of the service as it clearly needs doing on a regular basis. Any way West End garage sent a car to pick me up from home (8mls) and having paid the ransome for my car, I was happy to drive away. The ransome did not include the repair to the ESP which Skoda paid for probably out of a sense of guilt that they had not recalled the vehicle for a known fault. The other minor repair was the replacement of the wing mirror glass as the silvering had started to go brown at the bottom edges. Are dealers reducing stocks of spares to save money? If ittakes 24hrs to get the part then repair times will increase each time a new part is required.
  18. Agree about the colour. Best one in the range pity you can only get with the vRS.
  19. Car arrived on Thursday and took delivery on Saturday. Just to give things an edge the postal strike meant that insurance documents did not arrive on time which required a bit of fancy footwork on the part of the dealer and ins company. But all's well that ends well.
  20. Although I have been a member of the site for some time this is my first post. The reason for this is that I do not yet own a Skoda. I am about to tale delivery of An Octavia Estate 2.0 TDI PD DSG five weeks late, on top of a quoted delivery time of 12 weeks. The quoted reason for the delay is a shortgae of DSG gearboxes. So not off to a good start.
