  1. Hi all. Recently my 2013 Skoda Rapid SE had a fault with the display on the dashboard, the one in the middle of the the speed and rpm gauge. (sorry, can't remember what it's called) I don't know what caused it, but was hoping by posting here I might be able to guess how to fix it whithout going to a garage. About a week ago some of the data on the display went rogue. Now the average mpg, distance and driving time are all way out. Everything else works but it is annoying. Average mpg is stuck on 49.7 Distance is on 1997. Driving time is on 69 hours. I would like to fix it, since the Average mpg is very helpful to me. None of my driving is ever so extreme (69 hours, 1997 distance driven? I don't think so... ) so I know it s a fault. Would putting VCDS on it work, or perhaps looking at any error codes? Thanks.
  2. It's the 1.2 54hp engine. I did find it questionable that the crank sensor needed changing right after the cam sensor had been changed but both weren't very expensive. Makes me think the garage may of set it up slightly, but symptoms of the second fault were different ( second fault being the Crank sensor) so it's hard to guess really.
  3. Hello. So just these past days I had lots of stress because my Cam sensor failed. EPC lot was on, engine warning light was on, engine juddering. Lots of fun things. Interesting, because that sensor was only replaced a year ago ( or roughly 4,000 miles ago) and me and my dad got a very large bill for it. So went to a garage to replace this cam sensor, the next day I had another issue. I had gotten the car home okay, no issues. When I came to drive to college for an exam, the car lost a lot of power, accekeration was like walking pace. No engine light or anything though. I got it into the same garage again that had replaced the Cam sensors day before, they said Crankshaft sensor at fault. They replaced it and then I took the 40-minute journey to and from college with no issues. My mum was suspicious that the two things had to be done within a day of each other. Am I right or be suspicious also?
  4. Hi, so a few days ago I had the last coil changed on my 2003 1.2 fabia ( the 3 cylinder, it's petrol and on nearly 130,000 miles), it runs fine now however the engine judders every now and then. I've done 5 15-20 min journeys after the 3rd coil was changed. All 3 have now been changed within a year. So the only time the engine light comes on was when I was doing around 60 mph or accelerating up to around that speed. The light doesn't flash, it just stays on for about 10 seconds and then goes off and so far hasn't come on until I do a faster speed again, usually on my next journey. The engine has juddered once or twice but on separate journeys. What could it be, the coils have all been changed, spark plugs maybe? Thanks.
  5. Yeh, maybe seems like that's what I said but no... There is only one more coil that needs to be replaced, and we are going to give it to a garage to get it diagnosed in the week. A year ago, the same garage changed one and said the other 2 would be likely going soon, and seeing that one failed a few weeks ago, I'm guessing it could well be the last coil/spark plug. We were going to get it checked out anyway though.
  6. Hi So recently my Fabia, a 2003 naturally aspirated 1.2 3 cylinder, started playing up. I was out driving through a town and my engine starting juddering. I thought maybe clutch slip but it still did it when gearbox was in neutral. I got home, sat the car on the driveway and let it settle. I revved it, just a little tap and it revved again without me touching it. EPC light came on for about a second and went off again. It hasn't come back on since. I took it out for another short drive round my estate and the revving and acceleration was really slow in any gear and there was a lesser amount of juddering but still noticeable. Don't quite know what could be wrong, my dad thinks it could be the coils. My dad got one of then changed recently when coil no2 stopped suddenly and it was only running on 2 cylinders. If it is the coil that is playing up, it will be the last one to be replaced as we have already got the other 2 replaced. Apart from that, I thought maybe a sensor? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
