  1. Well that was an easy find! And also pretty cool that it was your first post. Unfortunately, the link is no longer valid.
  2. Oh my! This is amazing. Also, can you share a link / pictures of the camera you installed? Unable to visualize it. This is what I got https://www.ebay.ie/itm/182652044382?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
  3. Thanks MicMac. The DMF was replaced with the engine, about 50,000 km and 2y6m before. I read the post DMF Failure signs and I do not have any of the symptoms. Haha yeah I will look for that post, just for curiosity. The pedal feel doesn't bother me.
  4. That's good to know! Thanks for the update. Take a look at one of my posts on here, I had to solder the number plate bulb in parallel to the LED from the reverse camera to get the 'Light out' can bus error to go away. Since yours is a 2009 as well, I don't think we can disable this error with VCDS.
  5. Whoa! Never had a battery last more than 3 to 5 years, let alone the one which came from the factory. It's likely that the battery was replaced with an OE battery so the part number matches.
  6. I tried it yesterday and I couldn't hear the noise much (Maybe because it was a little warmer when compared to the day I posted it). So I can not confirm. I will check when I get a chance again. When I depress the clutch or even apply slight pressure, I feel short pulses on my feet. It matches the frequency of the tick notices the PD engine makes. If I let go of the clutch and then slightly rest my foot, I don't feel these pulses.
  7. Thanks. After several years, I've found this one useful! Appreciate it.
  8. Hey, How's it going? Would be interesting to know how you got on with the upgrades.
  9. Hey. Did you find one? If so, please link it here. Thanks!
  10. Just for the sake of completeness, I'm adding what dashcam and reverse camera I'm installing. Dashcam - Vantrue N4 RearCam - This one This one has an LED built in but we need to solder the old bulb in parallel with this LED, else it throws a CAN bus error for 'Number Plate Lighting' And also, need to buy a white LED for the other side. Now I have one side throwing light in yellow and the other in white
  11. Hey, not bad actually and yes, I do have a multi function steering wheel (MFSW). Since I'm also installing a rear dash cam and parking camera, I've been doing some preparation from yesterday. I'm getting my unit delivered in 2 days! The unit itself should be plug and play, although I've been slaking off ordering a fascia (I can live with a hole in my console for a few weeks). I've attached a couple of pictures of the rear end taken apart for the wiring. Took me all afternoon to get the covers off! I'm pretty sure I broke some clips but I'm not too worried. The full interior kit from Amazon uk helped a treat.
  12. Hi J.R, Strange that it's asking you for a password. I tested it by opening that link in an incognito window and it didn't ask for any sort of authentication. The noise isn't a lot, just some constant thumps (almost like it's sucking down some liquid, really hard to explain :/) and it went away once the engine was warmed up. Also, the tensioner isn't jumping around, more like it's vibrating about couple of fixed points, moving back and forth (I'd say maybe less than a half a cm) of movement. I don't have the tools on hand right now to test what you suggested, unfortunately. Can you give that link an other try, please? Maybe in an incognito window (Ctrl Shift + N once google chrome / edge is open). Thanks
  13. Thanks Mic. That's good to know. The engine cover and the battery cover did seem a little loose to me. I do remember seeing someone use a mechanics stethoscope a while ago but didn't know a hose works too! I'll give that a go. Thanks again.
  14. Hi, This afternoon, I started the car and I could hear some thumping noise (discontinuous and pretty low in amplitude) so I pulled up the bonnet and noticed what I think is the cam belt tensioner shaking and vibrating. It appears that it may be the one making the noise. (Picture and videos attached). A video of the problem -> (You can hear the thumping noise) After driving around for a while (No difference in the drive and I can also not hear the noise) and the engine now in operating temperature, I pulled the bonnet again and the part is still vibrating the same but this time, there is no thumping noise. Same part, after engine warm up -> (I believe you can not hear the thumping noise. I recorded the video in nearly the exact same conditions (phone, location etc.)!) Per the service records, it got a replacement BXE engine in July, 2018 after the original one (after 9 years 6 months and 193,000km) blew it's con rods. So I figured it had to have a new water pump, cam belt tensioner and the whole timing kit (No work on the timing has been done from then and now the car is currently at 244,000 km). Any advices on what's going on here? Is that part a pre-tensioner? Anything obviously wrong here? Any red flags? I appreciate your help. Thanks
  15. Hi, Thought I'll write this thread (and ask some questions!) as I had to research a lot to gather information from multiple sources. Some sources 1. Almost all of the briskoda threads which talk about this topic (most of them old, with expired links) 2. This youtube video 3. Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/RCD_330/ My car has the Bluetooth module under the driver seat and with some coding, I enabled it (not sure why it was disabled!). I could connect my phone to the car, make and receive phone calls perfectly. My phone (stock one plus 8T) assumed the car was a headset and wouldn't play music. Bummer! I'm also not a fan of using Android auto when mounting my phone on the dash. I want Android auto and MFSW to work and after some research, I settled on the RCD330. Advantages 1. OEM look 2. No power drain problem with mk2 3. Plug and play After shopping around, Aliexpress was the best place to buy it (free shipping to Ireland, 7 to 14 days). There were a lot of RCD330 knockoffs (RCD 360 and RCD 360 Pro) and the genuine RCD330 was €270 (Plus up to 32% VAT!!) and also couldn't find one in Skoda Green so I settled for the RCD360 pro from leamon shark, for €204. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000632040965.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3a374c4dKRch51 Along with this install, I'm also going to be installing 1. Reverse parking camera (I have a tow hook and having a camera offers peace of mind :D) 2. Dash cam (front and rear) (Something similar to Vantrue N4). I'm including that here as I plan to hard-wire both the dash cam reverse camera at the same time. The above two should arrive in a few days and the RCD330 in about a week or two. I'm pretty sure I need a fascia but I'm not sure how to choose one! (I have auto air con). Can someone help me with locating a fascia, please? I've attached a picture of my existing setup (minus the radio trim! I do have it though) I'll keep this thread updated with my progress and finding.
  16. Thanks! I've several things planned in terms of maintenance and upgrades and I'm sure I'll be scouring all over the forms.
  17. On my Octavia mk2 FL, that was the issue. Was not sure if it also needed a re-gas so took it to auto air con, Dublin and they sorted out the pulley nut and an AC service for €150.
  18. Hi, I'm Anirudh, living in Dublin, Ireland. I love maintaining and modifying my car and read tons of articles on here and now, I feel I can contribute. I'm the owner of a (new to me) 2009 Skoda Octavia Elegance Mk2 FL. As with a car of that generation, I've spent many hours trying to figure out the Bluetooth mess and came across all the VCDS mods I could do. Jumped on getting an OBD11 Pro (It can do pretty deep diagnostics and long coding and that's all I need). I see that a lot of people have trouble finding someone with VCDS (myself included!) so feel free to reach out to me if you need to do some coding / diagnostics!
