  1. Its a 1.5 TSI Skoda Octavia Mk III DSG - I paid a set price for the service, I'm not sure if the invoice stated how much oil was used or whether it was just marked as zero.
  2. Yes I think this is possible as well, the warning has seemed to come on when performing a sharp turn [such as at a roundabout etc], after driving for several minutes. Other 10-20 mile drives the warning has not appeared. We checked on a relatively flat surface after driving approx 10 miles. The level was definitely on the high side of the stated range in the manual.
  3. A couple of weeks back I took my car for an interim at a local garage. I have had no issues with the car prior to this service. A couple of days later I got a warning message about the oil level being too high. I checked the dipstick and it was within range [just]. The warning cleared, but then has subsequently come back on an intermittent basis. My partner took the car back yesterday and explained, they think it is likely to be the sensor. Is it possible that they have damaged the sensor in the process of topping up the oil for the service? Would the garage normally pay for this sensor replacement in a circumstance like this, or am I to believe it is just a coincidence? Many thanks.
  4. So would this prevent someone from unlocking the car doors? This is the primary concern as I don't think there would be any other way of identifying my car other than to drive around the streets triggering the fob.
  5. I found myself overly intoxicated on friday just gone, and unfortunately left my jacket in the pub, which contained my 2017 Octavia key. I've since returned to the pub and no jacket was handed in, and FB appeals have not had any success. In light of this, what is my best course of action for getting a replacement key and is it much hassle to have the lost key removed from the system. Elsewhere i have been advised to contact a local autolocksmith, but thought I would consult the expertise of this forum before proceeding.
  6. Just thought I would update the thread... So i was fortunate and an excellent condition, 3 year old, 30K mile DSG 1.5 Octavia was available in my hometown, after a test drive I managed to get some money knocked off and 2 years warranty. Absolutely loving it so far, a massive step up from my old car. Sadly it didn't come with the original floor mats, can anyone recommend some or a good website?
  7. Hi, My 17yr old mini cooper has died and we are expecting our first child in October. After seeking much advice around the internet and assessing all the options I am strongly considering a Skoda Octavia. The car will be used for driving around town [short 2/3 mile runs] through the week, with longer 50-75 mile round trips at the weekends on A + B roads. With some less frequent longer trips throughout the year. It will be our only car so want something reliable, especially after recent garage bills on the MINI. We enjoy camping, and hiking trips and also want scope for maybe a Labrador sized dog in the future. I feel like an Octavia will fulfill all of this. Budget is 11-13k. My outstanding questions: 1] DSG or manual? There is a DSG for sale which has all of the spec features I would like [full leather, heated seats etc], but I have some question marks about the reliability of the gearbox, and this particular vehicle has 30,000 on the clock. I could compromise the spec features and get a manual with half the mileage. Am I right to be concerned about the gearbox? 2] How to purchase? Skoda approved used warranty seems conditional upon buying through PCP. If i were to do this and settle the finance within the 14 days, would i retain this warranty etc? 3] Online purchase - I have been looking at getting a car home delivered literally to the other side of the country. Would I be able to do this and then have it serviced at the nearest approved garage? As the servicing is also included alongside the warranty. Apologies if these are silly questions, I have limited experience when it comes to car purchasing. I only spent £3k on my MINI
