  1. In mine header tank there's also some black soot and brown residue...
  2. I also have similar symptoms, but now I have to top up after every journey. After investigation I came up with such solutions: - some people had issues with heater matrix clogged causing high pressure of coolant and loosing it through expansion tank - I will check mine heater matrix at weekend (but heating is fine)... - possible head gasket failure - co2 test on the way, read a few posts about the gasket failure and very similiar symptoms (I think that's the most likely reason for that in my car), - egr cooler (I doubt it).
  3. It usually never goes above 100 but sits below that temperature (and above 80). It's integrated with oil filter housing, the radiator is on the top. Will update in couple weeks.
  4. Changed the rocker cover, no more oil in crankcase breather hose. Also noticed some oil leak on oil housing, I am wondering if that's not the oil cooler leaking (I also noticed some coolant level drop). Gave it a clean but will monitor and most likely replace. @BogdanB You've got some oil temperature issues, did you check the oil cooler for leaks?
  5. Did you replace it for a brand new one? I've took a look at the PCV valve in the cover I've got off ebay, apparently the car had about 60k km on the clock. The membrane is deformed a little bit, but not completely. I am wondering if there's maybe something in the actual plastic that we are missing, apart from the membrane itself... (bad design?).
  6. Indeed, the last injector has to go out along with two high pressure fuel pipes. For them the torque is 28Nm, for the injectors bolt it's 8Nm +270 degrees. It's advised to put new o-rings and copper plate on the injector too, the part number is elring 883.700 . To be honest I didn't do it on mine, but I will order them when I will be replacing the cover. Hope this helps!
  7. I've changed it and crankcase breather still has very minor vapour (but I think that's due to the fact the membrane I've installed is different). The old one was not 'curved' in shape, but with a sharp angle, it was worn out. And there was PLENTY of oil in crankcase. So it did help. But the other thing is that my rocker cover is cracked and I have to replace it anyway.
  8. There's no official part number for that one:) But you can buy it on ebay. I've ordered that one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133767512180 but it was different to what was inside. The one inside looked like that one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133727586122 I am replacing the whole rocker cover so wasn't too much worried about the fit.
  9. If I would be in UK then from what I know it would still pass because there's only a visual inspection and not diesel particles test Just the valve itself worked, but I need to replace the whole cover anyway because it has a crack.
  10. Well actually in mine skoda as well as Bogdan's, there was oil in crankcase breather hose indicating faulty PCV valve membrane. I've replaced mine a few days ago and for now it looks like it's clean. He has some pictures so he can post it.
  11. I'm going to call the mechanic and will see what he says. But propably as we said the engine will have to be disassembled. Will update the topic after that.
  12. I'm using quantum 5w30. Was thinking of trying ravenol but I think that it would take too much nevertheless. Dpf was clogged and doing regens all the time so had it removed. When engine is cold there's sometimes some light smoke but could be just condensation... When I'm accelerating and revs are high then there's lots of greyish / blue smoke - I assume it's burning oil. No oil on plastic shield.
  13. My uses that amount in 100-150 miles. ..
  14. Checked the cover on side and it's not that. Turbo intake clean, crankshaft ventilation hose has a little bit of oil vapour. There's smoke coming out from oil cap and much more from oil dipstick. I suppose that valve seals could be the reason? Is there a way to diagnose it other than disassembly? Merci Bogdan for your response, helped a lot.
  15. Hello, I would like to replace turbocharger on my Skoda Octavia. Will this turbo https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-AUDI-TTS-VW-2-0TDI-184hp-TURBO-CHARGER-GARRET-NEW-ORIGINAL-GTD1449VZ-/303727894282?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=EAIaIQobChMIq_qt7JvH8AIVAiF7Ch0l5ADrEAQYBCABEgKth_D_BwE and seals be enough to do the job? Do I simply swap the actuator? Does it need to be set up after replacement? Maybe is it better idea to buy turbo with actuator?
