  1. Thanks all. I’ll reconsider in a few years when the warranty is approaching expiry.. Or when I win the lottery and don’t care. Whichever comes first.
  2. Thanks for your replies. I’ll take at the warranty section of my manual on the weekend. I don’t want to do anything sneaky. Cheers
  3. Hello, I’ve got a new 2021 Superb with the 2.0TSI (206kW), 6sp DSG, 4x4. I’m investigating getting a performance tune (ECU remap). Possibly a TCU remap. There are several options available from the more reputable tuners that have been developed primarily for the Golf R community (same engine and trans). APR is one of the more mainstream options that have a variety of engine and transmission control unit software upgrades. I’m considering a “mild” “Stage 1” tune that is just software, no hardware (ie cold air intake, downpipe, etc) to begin with. My question is - Will an ECU or TCU remap void the Skoda manufacturers warranty? Ive asked the salesman that sold me the car and he says yes, it will void the warranty. He may be correct but I’d like some validation or perhaps you have some experience with this? Performance remaps seem to be quite common practice in the VW and Audi community so given this Skoda is part of the same family I’d have thought it should be fine..
  4. Seems to be stable Richmix. Thanks! I’m also getting used to Waze as a great alternative to Googlemaps.
  5. Thanks Richmix. I’ve just done the update to 5.73. I’ll let you know. Cheers
  6. Sigh.. It’s not fixed. It still zooms in and out like crazy. I tested if it’s worse with my phone in my pocket but no difference between there or the centre console. I’ll just have to get used to doing the +/- trick before setting out. Or switch to Android;)
  7. Richmix - I took my Superb for it’s first service this morning and used Googlemaps on the way. For the first time ever it didn’t do the zoom dance… I still reported the issue. They had heard of the problem but they didn’t have a solution. It’s rare.. I was given a courtesy Karoq to drive around for the day. No problem with using Googlemaps via CarPlay in it either.. They said it appears to be more common when using a cable than wireless but didnt know why. They confirmed I have the latest software and couldn’t replicate the problem in my Superb. It didn't do the zoom dance driving home either.. So… My iPhone 11 updated its iOS a couple of nights ago.. I wonder if they’ve changed something in that update. Big brother watching us? I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if the problem comes back. I don’t drive every day so might not know for a few days. Suggest you see if there’s a fresh iOS update for your iPhone and try that again..
  8. Thanks Richmix. Yes, that worked for me this morning. So, what does that mean? It’s Google Maps that doesn’t like CarPlay? If so, I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t care much..
  9. Arrggh.. I was hoping you’d nail it.. Righto.. Thoughts... 1. When it comes to misbehaving technology the suppliers always try to shift blame. My internet fell over yesterday and the technician did everything possible to blame other devices in my network. It’s how things are. I also fell back on the beer solution. It sort of worked.. 2. Waze doesn’t do it. It’s a bit weird to use and I need to adjust my thinking away from google maps. But it’s a solution. 3. It does appear to be unique to iPhone, CarPlay combo users. Android users don’t seem to be complaining. 3a.. I’m unfortunately very imbedded in the Apple world and it’s becoming increasingly annoying. With every new iPhone I get it seems to work less well than the last. Alright the camera gets slightly better. The OS annoys me more and more every update. I’m ready to bail out and go Android next time. I will be going to the Skoda service centre in a week or two and I’ll ask them to update the entertainment system firmware. Let you know how I go.

  11. Thanks. Yes, please let me know how you go. I’m booked in for my first service in a couple of weeks and it’d be good to get some feedback before I go in. Cheers
  12. Hi. I have the same problem with my new 2021 Superb. iPhone 11, latest OS, CarPlay, Google maps zooming in and out, very annoying... Any fix for this yet. Thanks
