  1. I took test drives in models both with and without the virtual cockpit and navigation. I decided to buy a model with the virtual cockpit and nav as I travel daily to different locations. Is it essential? No - you could use your phone for the sat nav and I do sometimes if I prefer the route on Google Maps. However I like the selection of views and information and having the map in the centre of dashboard.
  2. For anyone else following this issue, I spoke to the dealer this week and they have been notified that a fix is in the works. Apparently it has to do with a lack of 5G signal, which explains why it tends to occur in certain locations. To date, I've only experienced the issue when heading towards Greenwich.
  3. @stewartv Good news that the issue has been acknowledged. I'll have to call my dealer and see if they're aware of the progress - there's probably not much point taking the car in until the fix is ready.
  4. @stewartv That's interesting as it was on the way to / from the Greenwich peninsula that I had the issue crop up - not in exactly the same location as you as I was on the A12 / A102 but not far away. I reckon it was around there that it cropped up. I wonder what's going on there that's causing these issues? Something in the airwaves presumably. If it is extremely localised then I'm thinking that if it doesn't occur again before my appointment that I might just cancel the trip to the dealer. I don't generally frequent Docklands so if it doesn't happen elsewhere I can live with that. @e-Roottoot Thanks for the links. I had Googled the issue and found some VW-group chat elsewhere but hadn't come across the discussions on here, so that's useful.
  5. When I was test driving Scalas, I drove a used SEL that had a similar sat nav issue where it was streets away from where it should be. I've only used the Sat Nav in my SEL a few times but I've been pleasantly surprised. The points of interest displayed are handy, although I've not been in a congested area to check the live traffic accuracy. Some of the pronunciation is a bit off and it seems to say 'good' periodically but it's got me to my destination and home well enough.
  6. This morning the SOS error isn't present, which is typical of what some others seem to be reporting. It's interesting that some also report the issue specifically when they drive into London. The message appeared briefly when I was heading in but quickly disappeared. It reappeared and stayed on at what I imagine was a similar location when I was heading back out. I wonder if there's something about certain locations that sets off an error. There were a series of tunnels in the area. I have a fortnight until the service, so I'll see whether it reappears in different circumstances in the meantime.
  7. Hi everyone, I'm a brand new Scala owner, having taken delivery of the car just a few days ago. So far I really like it, but on return from its first decent run yesterday - a 50+ mile run into London - I got a message popping up "Error: emergency call. Please visit workshop". The yellow triangle comes on the dash and the SOS button lights up. Having done some research it seems this is a pretty widespread issue with VW group cars, although it sounds like it can cause other issues in some instances. Fortunately on yesterday's experience it didn't noticable affect any other functions that I could see, although the speed warning chime I'd set up did seem to stop. Am I right to feel a little annoyed that the recall wasn't applied to the car before I picked it up? I've now booked it in, but not for a fortnight as the local dealer is booked up. Have any other Scala owners experienced this? I'd be interested to know how long a fix it requires. Dan
