Hi, I'm new to this group, but have owned Skodas for many years.
At the moment I run a 2013 1.6 Fabia diesel estate with just over 200k on the clock.
Still drives well but has an annoying fault on the power steering.
The fault is mainly from cold. When I turn the ignition on, the power steering light does not come on straight away, it takes a few seconds then comes on and stays on. At this stage there is no assistance.
However, if I drive about 8 miles or so and come to a stop, the light goes out and the steering starts to work and will work fine for the rest of the journey.
But, come to start off again even after a short stop, it often doesn't work again until driving for a while then coming to a stop again.
It's driving me mad as it seems to be temperature and speed related??
The battery is good, fuses are clean, charging rate is 14.7 from cold. Plugs and connections are good and fluid level is fine. No DTCs stored.
I'm thinking power steering pump/ECU as that seems common, but is there anything else to check?
Pump number is 6R0423156C. Most second hand ones I've seen end in AB. Are they interchangeable?
Sorry it's a long post, but any help would be appreciated 🙂
Thank you Mark.
