Airbag under seat connectors
Update. Sorted. Iβve managed to source a front airbag only unit and make it fit the connector. Ok, the ones in the seats wonβt activate, but that would be the case in some models anyway.

Airbag under seat connectors
Update The second hand sensor I fitted is listed as a type 3 in VCDS, the passenger (known good) is listed as a type 2. Is there anyway to recode to impact sensor so they both match? I have ordered a second hand airbag ECU from a reclaim yard that doesn't have side airbags, this might another solution

OK, I cut into the loom and soldered in the second hand connector / sensor. The original loom was a white wire and a brown wire. The second hand one is yellow and brown (should make any difference. VCDS then came up with 62-00 "No or incorrect adjustment" This was also the case with the original sensor in the rewired loom Later on it came up with "Short to plus" π I belled out the wires, so they are definitely the correct ones. One last thing I might try is to splice the original wires into the new part I've added, but other than that I'm at a loss.

Thanks for the info. Yes, VCDS is quite vague. Iβve soldered in extension wires to the replacement sensor that came with a connector. Iβll splice this in further along the loom, hopefully tomorrow.

Airbag under seat connectors
Tried another impact sensor today, some message about not set up was returned. Also the original did the same. Then after resetting it came up short to plus. So I cut the carpet out and I think Iβve found where water is coming in (cracked bings), now sealed up. The airbag control unit is on the tunnel I think. Might try tracing and wiring directly into it later What do you think?

Thanks again for the advice. If I have shorted anything, where are the fuses for this circuit please?- Airbag under seat connectors
Update: I have pulled the carpet up and located the side airbag sensor: If it's plugged in it says "Short to positive" If it unplugged it says " Short to positive" If a resistor is put in it says "Short to ground" I'm going to bell the wiring out tomorrow and I've ordered another sensor (ordered the wrong one previously) If these don't resolve the issue it looks like I'm scrapping the old boy π₯ Any thoughts?- Airbag under seat connectors
Well the garage never got back to me, so I bought an OBD lead and used VCDS lite. Definitely either the crash sensor under the seat or the wiring. Got a reader / code clearer coming and ordered a second hand sensor- Airbag under seat connectors
I spoke to the garage yesterday and for an update. They're going to have a word with Skoda to definitely determine where the problem is, because they've had instances where the code didn't match the TRUE fault πΆ I'll update soon ποΈ- Airbag under seat connectors
Oh, and getting hold of parts from Skoda might be a problem, as the shelf life of these parts is way past the 10yrs- Airbag under seat connectors
The resistor is to diagnose the fault. The garage suggested getting hold of another airbag just in case. Iβll see how it goes, but I may have to use a German specialist on the same industrial estate. Trouble is, it could be too costly on a 2001 Octuy- Airbag under seat connectors
Thought so, thanks- Airbag under seat connectors
Update: Took it to an independent garage and itβs come back with 01221 Crash Sensor Airbag Drivers Side G179 Short With Power. Iβve ordered some 3.7 Ohm resistors and a airbag igniter. Will disconnecting the battery reset once Iβve cured the problem?- Airbag under seat connectors
Evening all, I've got an airbag warning light on the dash after moving the seats back and forwards. I'd like to try to re-seat the yellow airbag connectors, but I can't seem to get them apart. I see there is a part of the connector that pivots, but beyond that I don't want to force it. Is there anyone who can advise on how to get them apart please? Also: Does it need to be reset using a device afterwards? Thanks in advance,- Moisture in the top of the engine
That's the unfortunate thing, I have to do plenty of short journeys in this car. I do stay on top of oil changes, but it's the 1st car I've had that does this. Hey, ho- Moisture in the top of the engine
Me again, It seems that moisture build up in the 2.0 8V MPI engine is a common problem (which I have had since I've owned the car). I've never lost any coolant, the exhaust has never smoked etc. So I know it's not head gasket related (been there, done that on other cars). Is there anything I can do to reduce it? Is there a PCV on this engine? It's not really affecting anything, apart from ticking me off, but any hints would be nice π- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
Well, another update to the Soaker Octavia It was still getting wet in the drivers footwell... I tried many things again and I've finally sorted it. It was only getting damp in the middle of the well and I assumed it was tracking via the insulation underneath, or coming from above. After looking underneath the car I found two large grommets missing. I ordered some and have fitted them using silicone sealant (they are the right size, correct P/N, but don't seem to have a suitable lip). I have made some small bars with studding and wing-nuts in case they come loose. It's now dry!- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
I know they hold a lot of water, from when the passenger side decided to become wetter than an otters pocket. I've been using a folded towel with two bricks on top to pull water out of the carpet. Looking at it, it seems to be quite dry (towel was damp, not soaked through). I would be out there at the mo, but it's raining with a chance of tree branches. I also have a small dehumidifier (solid-state one), but being so cold it really needs some heat to get the moisture moving. Soaker Octavia π¦- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
Great thread. It has been completely soaked in the past, but each time I have some dampness in there it's just on the surface. I'll see how I get on this weekend, but I'm tied up with other stuff. A few hours to remove the seats etc...... It's been continually raining, I haven't had a chance yet. Might come to that though.- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
Well, it's wet again. But then again the drivers side scuttle panel bought from the scappie did have a bad seal, due to having oil dripped on it from the car above. I thought this would be sorted, but the seal I put on top also pealed away. Going to take it all off, put more silicone sealant around the bottom of the window, put my original right hand scuttle back on and patch over the wiper holes with rubber seal. π- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
If water gets to the cabin filter, I'll make the footwell wet- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
The RHS drain is under the scuttle panel. It's a smallish oblong hole. You can just about see it if you pull the scuttle up, even better if it's off. The LHS is essentially the same. Just to clarify, they are BELOW the oblong holes in the picture and go to the wing. The best thing to do is to removed the scuttle panels and clean out any rubbish that's in there. Also remove the inner wheel arch liners, as they will be full of debris too. The pour some water to make sure that it drains. I seem to be leak-free at the mo. It did take months of trying and testing π- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
I'll post some pics of where the drains are located for the scuttle panels in a couple of hours- Given up: Water in drivers footwell
Yes, all of the above are the best places to check. The sunroof drain was the sunroof drain was my passenger foot well causing to become wet. When I took out the inner wheel arch there was about 2 pints of mud and mulch each side. --------------------- Well, after removing the old scuttle panels, running some sealant around the base of the screen, refitting the scuttles with some more sealant around the top rubber seal, and then fitting another sealing strip I bought off Amazon, we'll see if it keeps the water out. - Airbag under seat connectors
