Three years late to the party, and not a Superb (but I suspect it's a part common to both Superb and Octavia). Had this same issue, took it into the dealership (Marshall in Nottingham in this case) as requested following a quick phone call. Parts guy took a quick look... 'oh yeah, fine' - booked in for a few weeks' time for a warranty repair. Fingers crossed. I took my armrest assembly out to take a look at it (shh, don't tell!) - the whole thing is just held in with two T30 Torx bolts.
