Hey everyone, I'm new here and I'm trying to make the best possible spec of the new octavia sedan for my budget. The prices and equipment levels in Serbia are totally different than in the rest of Europe, so I'll try and not use to localized trim levels. I usually do around 20.000km (13.000 miles) per year, and I am thinking between 1.5TSI 110kW and 2.0TDI 85kW, both with DSG gearbox, choosing between the middle and the highest level trim. Basically, the price difference between petrol and diesel is around 1000 euros, the price for the middle level is 22.000 (23.000 for the diesel), and for the highest level is 24.650 and 25.650 euros. I almost never drive in the city, and never have big traffic jams, bumper to bumper... Highway and regional roads are around 60% - 40%. Highway speeds are 140km/h (~87mph) (we have a system that calculates your average speed so most people never go faster than this, i never go much faster), and on regional roads I drive up to 110 km/h (70mph). What kind of a difference in consumption can I expect between these two engines? I reckon it shouldn't be more than 1-2l per 100km? Petrol and diesel prices are strange here, diesel being 0.1 euros per liter more expensive than petrol. We are expecting a baby soon, so the first few months or a whole year, my girlfriend would be sitting in the back, so backseat comfort is a bonus. Does anyone know if either version has multilink in the rear wheels? It should make the car a bit more comfortable, right? The highest level trim would have more equipment, this is the (crude) list: LED tail lights (special design) - the middle has the static ones 17" alloy wheels (middle has 16") Chrome pack (not sure what this is) Comfort front seats Three zone AC (as opposed to two zone on middle) Electrical folding of the side mirrors Matrix headlights (the middle has the basic LEDs) Auto adjustable headlights with AFS1 (fog lights cornering function) Front and back parking sensors (middle has no parking sensors, would have to pay for this additionaly) Rear camera Keyless advanced (does this mean unlocking and locking, and starting and stopping the car without the key?) Virtual cockpit (do you have a picture with the difference between the virtual and normal cockpit) Satnav Columbus + web radio Comfort phone (not sure what this is) with LTE and wireless charging Additionally, the petrol engine, being a mild hybrid, is around 150 euros cheaper to register every year (including taxes) than the diesel. I would add some extras even to the high trim such as: Sunset and acoustic front windows, 5 years warranty, three spoke heated steering wheel, So, my question to you guys is, which engine would you pick? And is the extra equipment worth the 2.600 euros extra? It's a lot of money for me, so the less I spend is better. I'm even thinking not to get the DSG, but I've always wanted an automatic, so your thoughts on getting a DSG with less equipment vs manual with more equipment?
