  1. It doesn't happen if I disengage the clutch, it goes away when the engine isn't being put under load and if I keep the revs at 1500 or more, it never happens. It's just so situational. 4th gear above at less than 1500rpm. If I'm going downhill it doesn't do it as the engine isn't trying. It feels stress related. I thought something might be slipping but wouldn't it also do that at higher revs?
  2. I don't much about these things but I'm gathering from your response that I shouldn't be hearing the noise that I'm getting. I can take it back to the garage I bought it from as I've had it 3 days, but I have to be convinced that it isn't a normal thing for these cars and the 4x4 before doing so.
  3. Hi all, I'm new here and I've searched all over the web but I can't find a good example of what I'm experiencing on my newly purchased 2010 Octavia 4x4 1.9 TDI. The noise is coming from the rear of the car, under 1500rpm in either 4th, 5th or 6th gear. My wife thinks it's just the car struggling as I'm making it work hard in the wrong gear but it sounds so bad that I'm not convinced. That said, I am new to cars in general, my previous car was a Volvo C30 1.6l diesel so I've never had anything as powerful or a 4x4 before. It's really loud and sounds like something grinding, whirring or vibrating really loudly behind me. Any ideas please?
