1.4 PD TDI suddenly stalls while overtaking
@KenONeill As far as I remember, it was flashing and sound beeping but only for a short period of time. I appreciate any ideas. @KeithCheetham Thanks, I'll keep this in mind. I guess the diagnosis of this issue would also mean engine out.

1.4 PD TDI suddenly stalls while overtaking
I might be wrong here but I've experienced the same warnings way before when I stalled the car but had gears engaged and the stall didn't stop the movement. Also when you crank the car for more than X seconds it comes (this is not a new symptom, actually haven't tried to crank that long now to try minimize possible damage). Neither the indicator or the sound appeared again after I managed to pull over, these all along with the oil level check passed suggested that the indication was for the stall itself. When I tried to restart, the glow plug light was flashing - not the oil can. At the moment when the incident happened there was obvious power loss, but I did not realize if this was a stall or not - just that there is a serious problem. I can't clearly remember if I switched the ignition off right away, nor if I disengaged the clutch while pulling over. I remembered however, the previous engine died under my father driving this car and not stopping the engine (and the movement) instantly on an oil warning, so I believe I was to aim for a stop and shutdown ASAP.

1.4 PD TDI suddenly stalls while overtaking
Hi, thanks for the replies. I removed the cover, the belt looks in tact and has good tension. Tooth on the belt are well formed where I could see. I'm not sure how to diagnose it any further. Yes, I checked the level first thing to do, as I explained in the next sentence. Mileage is ok, color is a bit concerning (black) but I'm just before the change cycle. Toady I found a hanging hose which I believe to be a vacuum one at the air filter box, the cable itself is not damaged but was completely removed from the place it should be (was hanging next to the connector). Reconnected it with no further results. Also noticed that the air filter box might be broken, I can shake it pretty hard in place, this might have caused the hose to come off during a ride. I also flipped the back seats to ear-check the fuel pump which surprisingly sounded but was very silent which explains why I missed the usual sound while listening from the driver seat. I had lights on for a long time along with the hazard lights while waiting for the trailer, so I read the battery voltage today, sending ATRV to an ELM 327 odb chip read 12-12.1V. I charged the battery for some time using a jump wire up to the point it read 13V, now the fuel pump sound is back and the car cranks - but still no start, no DTC.

1.4 PD TDI suddenly stalls while overtaking
Hi All, I recently found this forum while searching online about DTCs I read using an ODB tool. Two days ago I was on my way home from the weekend house and after a smooth hour-long drive on the highway (120kms or so, and 30-ish before in the cities) I started to overtake a car (speeds around 120-130 kmph). Upon acceleration, I heard a little different noise - but it was not obviously bad - and suddenly after 3-4 seconds heard a bigger noise (like when stalling), the engine died. Oil pressure lamp comes on, alarms starts to beep so I pull over ASAP (few hundred meters to stop). Shut down the car, the oil lamp went off. Checked all fuses, coolant level and temp, oil level and mileage but nothing outrageous. However, the glow plug light would blink on ignition after the incident. When I tried to crank the engine, it would move the starter but not more than half a turn (or less) I'd say, then blocks. Ended up waiting for a trailer 10kms from home in the middle of the night. I do not think at this point that the starter is jammed, nor the engine internals would stop a full turn since repeated ignition still produces half a turn cranking, and running on engine brake (+ pedal) after the stall was smooth. On the other hand, it is clear that the fuel system might have problems as I wouldn't hear the fuel pump priming anymore and there was a very little residue of dripping on the road and on the trailer, dark in color but having coolant taste (according to the trailer technician). I haven't found any clearly visible damage on the block, nor underneath the car. I bought a cheap obd tool the next day and used two different software to try read the codes. I got completely different results, but it was consistent upon software-switch and rescans (unfortunately I don't have access to VCDS myself). The codes I got: P2702, C0304 (from one tool); P0727, P0243, P0489 (from the other software). This is a 5-gear MT, 2005 European 1.4 PD TDI 55kW Fabia Combi, with ~230k kilometers in the chassis and ~130k in the engine itself. Freeze frame interestingly showed 0rpm and 0kmph at fault. I wasn't successful clearing the codes first - they would come on again after reignition and odb reconnect - but eventually they disappeared and the glowplug dash light would not stay blinking anymore. However, still the same symptom with the half-turn only cranks but no new DTCs, no fuel pump sound. I'd like to ask for ideas about why this might have happened. I feel confused between the codes and the missing fuel pump sound, since the DTCs are related to the EGR valve, the Turbo wastegate valve and the input speed sensor. I'm also not sure if towing is an option due to the possible damages, but having it trailered once more would cost a little fortune.
