  1. Found this on the floor of my 2017 Octavia Estate a while back. Googled the number but not able to locate it. Its wider than a seatbelt and quite heavy plastic.
  2. Seems to be a bit of a problem, some suggestions on page 2 of this thread on how to open let us know how you get on
  3. I can see the logic in this , but the service and gearbox service were both done a few months ago. I can see me asking if they left a pipe clip off a fuel pipe on a car they worked on a few months ago would be answered.... Its really to make sure I know that when it goes for next service to look at the same pipe. I wont be going back to Arnold Clark in Manchester as I am not in the area any more, but have one more service with the group paid for on a plan. No fuel treatment on the invoice.
  4. The tail was left on as it’s a temporary repair and the metal one that would have been on is a pair of pliers to remove. The pipe next to it is fine and not rusty
  5. There was no clip on the pipe that now has a cable tie, that was put there by the Green Flag mechanic. The normal pipe clip is a pair of pliers and pull the pipe off so it was removed for some reason and not replaced. I’m just trying to see if it’s normal to remove for service (fuel filter) or replace DSG auto box fluid.
  6. Driving back from the midlands over the weekend, got off the dual carriageway and a really strong smell of diesel. pulled over and the pipe with a tie wrap on was off and there was fuel everywhere. Car has been in for service and then had a gearbox oil change, the pipe clamp was missing and the pipe worked it’s way off. Tie wrap was temp fix by local garage who came out for green flag. I know it’s my responsibility to check the car, but can’t really think why this pipe would have been removed ? any suggestions
  7. The cost was approx 120€. I don’t think they did any software updates, it seems to have had a full dealer service before I got the car so assume any upgrades were done by Skoda in May before I got it. As to oil, it said singular and they said they would get it driving smoothly again and do no more to keep the cost down for me. They also do DSG tuning but I really don’t need anything like that.
  8. I dont have a service book with my car, (was told no Skodas do??) they logged on to the Skoda site and updated my vehicle with work done, so it shows on the Skoda Database, like having a service book stamp. Next owner will see what has been done
  9. So had the car into Kent Automotive today. They changed the DSG7 speed oil and the difference is remarkable. Gearchanges below 40mph are much smoother. A particular issue was when approaching roundabouts (slowing down) then seeing a gap and increasing speed. Often had a jolt before, now its just so much nicer. They update the Skoda service database as well. Well worth the hour drive to get to Maidstone and they offer great service.
  10. So I ordered a replacement switch from Amazon which was less than £10 delivered and apart from the fact it’s got slightly different images and the rear lock out switch doesn’t illuminate it does the job. With the new switch in the drivers window now goes all the way up and down when keeping your finger on the switch and I stated before comfort opening on the key has always worked, but I’ve now got one touch open and close on the drivers window. I did look at the old switch to see how it might be needing cleaning but nothing obvious and I didn’t wanna take it apart because it doesn’t look like it goes back together. All the tools I needed were some good quality plastic trim removal tools to take the whole switch unit out of the door and then once unplugged similar tools to remove the switch from the plastic trim housing. All in all 10 minutes to swap over and another 15 minutes faffing around with the old switch before I decided it was trash.
  11. My 1.6 diesel is the same, and sometimes between 1st and second in traffic. Car is 2018 and has 92k miles. Even when warm it can drive around town like the clutch has been let out too quickly now and again. It’s the 7 speed DSG in mine. I checked with a gearbox specialist in Maidstone who says that whilst they are sealed for life, they can really benefit from a flush and new oil at high mileage. It’s booked in for 18th October. Ill let you know after it’s gone in how much difference it makes.
  12. Comfort opening works fine, and battery is good and not been low or disconnected. I’ll try the up and down 3 seconds etc and report back
  13. So used the car today and it seems that the problem is back again, I’m thinking it must be the switch
  14. It’s cured the stopping half way up and down now, the one touch isn’t working, but that’s not a problem as I never use it. Thanks for the advice
  15. Sounds like a cheap fix, I’ll give it a go in the morning thanks
  16. My 67 plate 90,000 mile Octavia seems to have an issue with the operation of the drivers window. On convenience operation using the key fob, all windows lower and rise at the same time without issue. The driver window operated from the switch seems to stop at various times on up or down, generally it’s 3 button operations to fully lower or raise. The multi switch operates all the other windows in one motion and no stepping happens. any suggestions ?
  17. I’ve not forgotten about this, wanted to see if not using the rear socket was part of the solution. So far the fuse hasn’t gone, and I’ve tested the front socket each time I use the car with the USB socket .
  18. No, it’s all by itself and dash cam is on separate circuit
  19. Good points, but it was blown when I picked it up from Arnold Clark they are 200 miles away so just put another 30a fuse and two weeks later that has gone. Both the items work fine in other cars even at the same time. Ill have a look at removing the 12v socket and giving it a clean, in case its the problem.
  20. Great advice, the socket is grubby, bit nothing that can be seen that might cause a problem, (could take it out and give it a clean) As to when it blows, it was fine for two weeks, had a phone and a fridge in the boot running, got in it yesterday and daughter noted the charger wasnt on.
  21. Recently bought a 2017 1.6 estate from Arnold Clark and it keeps blowing the fuse on the accessory circuit. I noted that the circuit has a 30a fuse (that in itself seems high) and it only gets occasional use for the passenger to charge their iphone. I am leaning to replace the socket in between the front seats, before I do, any suggestions as to where I should look for other issues?
