  1. A simple yes or no would have been more helpful Ken. So Flywheel is covered under the Extended Insurance backed warranty for fellow Skoda drivers in the future. However note customers are liable for initial inspection costs. Donald was very clear re this. Once fault diagnosed then you are no longer charged these costs. So just a wee heads up. However Clutch is deemed a wear and tear item. So cost of a new clutch would be down to the customer. However you would be stupid not to replace clutch whilst gearbox is stripped down. Insurance cover all the labour costs re job. So the Clutch costs £228 in total. Total cost of Flywheel/Clutch cost is £1688. Clutch is only warranted for 6000 miles/6 months whichever comes first. Big thanks to the team at Henry’s Glasgow. Donald in Service was first class. Same re Kenny in Parts. I’ve dealt with Kenny for nearly a year purchasing parts for Servicing car and he’s always very helpful. Then the Technician completing the job Terry. I get my car later today but you hear so many bad stories re Warranty Cover. I dealt with Liam at Skoda. First class and warranty claim approved with 15 mins. Now that’s Service and Customer Care.
  2. Looking for some advice. Bought the above car last July. Car was an Approved Skoda Used Car. So it came with extended Skoda Two year warranty, two free Services Two years free breakdown and Mot. I roughly do 35000-40000 miles a year. So I needed a reliable vehicle and no big repair costs. The Salesman sold the car as two years “free” motoring other than tyres brakes and servicing costs after the two free services as any big bills was covered under the Extended Skoda Warranty. Fast forward till car was Serviced this week. I asked the garage who have serviced my previous cars for 20 plus years that I thought Flywheel was noisy/knocking. I replace Oil Air and Fuel Filter every 10000 miles with Skoda parts from a Skoda Dealership. Garage confirmed my thoughts. The Flywheel is very noisy and knocking. Car booked in on Thursday under warranty. Was not giving it any thoughts until I got a call from male member of Service Dept at the Garage tonight. He’s advised I contact Warranty Dept as he thinks I’m not covered under Extended Skoda warranty and a new clutch/flywheel is £1500 pounds approximately and to just look at car I’m going to be approximately £500. So obviously I’m up to high doh with worry now. They will contact me with the exact price on Monday. I’ve been driving since 1988 and only ever had to replace one clutch/flywheel on a Vectra at 137000 miles. Less than a month later the Vectra was written off. My last two cars (Ford Mondeo 2.0Tdci 140 bhp) the cars mileage were 217000 before it was scrapped (still on same clutch/flywheel) and the other Mondeo is on 157000 miles and still on same clutch and flywheel. My son now has this car. My car has done just over 82000 and I am the only driver of the car. I specifically asked when I bought car re previous owner. Garage said “local car with only one owner”. Any advice/help moving forward would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
