  1. Allright. Got the car back from the authorized shop. They switched the oil filter to an OEM one. Problem gone for now. I will still look forward and listen carefully if something shows up. I hope the idle with a faulty oil filter did not do any harm to the engine. I guess I will now inform the other mechanic that they made a service mistake and ask for a refund of some kind. Lets see how it ends. Thank you all for the help!
  2. Oh jeez forgot the most important thing from the post. But yeah it has a 1.2 TFSI. I read something about this but really makes me wonder how could they not notice this. So maybe the timing chain is ok after all? Maybe they will check it also at the authorized dealer. Thanks!
  3. Hey Skoda folks! Just got my 2014 Rapid back from an normal oil change. Weird enough the car started to make weird noises after this service. The mechanic called, saying they're hesitant to drive it because of a loud rattling noise after the service (before it was all good). Well I drove to the place, checked it myself, and it was making a terrible noise indeed. Drove it a short distance, and bam, low oil pressure warning with a red alert. Mechanic and the chief couldn't figure out the issue righ there but the chief suggested changing the chain asap and told that it is the only reason behind it. Things started to sound suspicious, since the chain would have probably given some fault codes, and I didn't want to leave my car there, so called a tow truck to take it to an authorized mechanic. Also their car inspection tool did not get any fault codes from the car even the car monitor showed a low oil pressure warning. Any idea how likely it is that the chain loosens up the second it has been serviced? What else could be causing this, and what questions should I ask the authorized mechanic? The mechanic shop opens next monday so I have plenty of time to think about this. Crazy day! Thanks for any help.
  4. Thank you @Robbydazzler! I have been lurking around the forums but I think there are a lot of opinions depending the car and its options. Using the Webasto drains a lot of battery so I was thinking of the AGM battery
  5. Hello fellow skoda owners. My battery has come to an end - or at least near to it. I was wondering if the battery is changable by myself? I have read about some coding after batter change and that is something I am not capable of. Battery change itself is not a problem. Should I visit a repair shop or try it by myself? The car has a start/stop function as well as a Webasto. I suspect there is currently an EFB battery due to its ”magic eye”. I was thinking if I should get an AGM battery instead or should I be good with the EFB battery? Thanks in advance!
  6. Not sure about it since I have driven for approx 400km after this happened and it has not repeated. That is why it is so confusing. And there was a slight smell reminding of brake pads so… The car was hooked up and there was nothing special. Or that is what I was told.
  7. Yes exactly an authorised repairer. I will ask more information from them.
  8. That is true. Since the car has not done it after this one incident and it disappeared after a restart when it happened the only explanatory cause would be a sticky break? The car was serviced at a Skoda representative and they ask high prices from their job. Could I appeal on their job for them to take a look at the problem?
  9. @xman @CS45 UPDATE: The car was finally serviced and the problem was indeed the in the rotary coupling unit. The got it changed and now the creaking is gone!
  10. Hi, The car was in service 4 weeks ago. And they performed a brake fluid change so I think the fluid should be fine?
  11. Hello and thanks for your comment. I visited a mechanic and he told that the problem sounded like an electric one. But there was no record of anything special in the cars ecu.
  12. I am told that the timing chain should last as long as the engine. Timing belt has on the other hand a change period. Are you sure you are talking about the chain?
  13. Hi fellow skoda owners! I was driving yesterday with my Skoda Rapid 1.2tsi 2014 on a highway and suddenly the car started to brake by itself! I know it sound silly etc. But that really scared me out. I could give gas and it responded but the breaking kept going stronger so I had to lower gears to keep the car going so I could go to the side of the road. After I shut down the car and started it again and the problem disappeard. What on earth was it? Has anyone else faced this situation? Maybe some electronical thing? Or air in the brakelines? There were no warnings just suddenly slowing down by breaking (I guess). And nothing appeared on the board. I drove for couple seconds while it was breaking and after it smelled a bit odd. Like brake pads? After this incident the car has worked just fine. I hope I dont face this issue again since it was scary and dangerous. Thanks in advance for any kind of respond.
  14. Hi! It has 138000km on it now. I heard the same but I guess it is normal for a short period of time.
  15. Hello fellow Skoda owners! I faced an question last morning when I started up my Rapid. On start up there is a short metallic noise. I have read that it is normal for a short period of time. Is it really? Especially when it is a very loud rattle? There is a short video of the noise. Thanks in advance! IMG_1335.MOV
  16. UPDATE: I just picked up my Rapid from a annual service at Skoda dealership. They took a look at the wheel noise but they had just couple minutes time for it after the service. The mechanic told that the problem could be caused by the rotary coupling unit. I will be in contact with the salesman after this problem came just in a day after buying the car. I will keep you updated.
  17. Thank you @xman for your response. The car has currently 137.000km on dash and production year is 2014 so do you think, if there is a TSB, it would still go through it? Or should I just visit a work shop or try and do it by myself?
  18. Hello fellow Skoda owners and others! I bought an used 2014 Skoda Spaceback 1.2 tsi. After some driving (approx. 150 miles) the steering wheel started to make a creaking noise. I think there is some wire rubbing against plastic covers? I do not think it is a big problem but I find it very unpleasant. There should be a video on this post to tell you exactly what I am talking about. Any suggestion what I shall do? Thanks in advance! IMG_1230.MOV
