  1. Managed 100 miles and it popped out again pulling off a junction! some kind lads in a VRs stopped and towed me home any thoughts?
  2. Just had another look as it’s been pouring down with rain the outer cv joint seems to have popped out. I’ve wiggled it around and managed to get it back in, should this be okay now? seems that it happened when I was trying to wrestle the strut in and out.
  3. Hi all, well I managed to get the secondhand strut on and all fitted nicely thinking how sweet of a job it was, however… The drive shaft has popped out and I’m a bit unsure what to do next. All the rubber boots are in tact and the brake rotor spins freely and so I’m a bit unsure where it has pulled away. any advice where to go from here? Should I dismantle everything take the strut out again and wiggle it back in? I’ve made a right **** out of a simple job!
  4. Managed to get it all off! the m14 bolt is looking quite worn and I’m having difficulty sourcing a new one. does anyone have a part number ?
  5. It’s still with the car but ready to go on holiday at any point I imagine! when I push down on the suspension I can from the bonnet section the strut mount area moving around. Also on inspection the at the very top of the spring you can see it’s snapped.
  6. Hey all, noticed a knocking from the suspension and turns out that the spring and strut mount on the front near side is gone. What are the current options with sorting out the suspension? I use my VRs as a cheap daily and don’t want to spend a crazy amount but at the same time I don’t want to be bouncing down the country lanes. I’m thinking that it’s probably best to change shocks springs mounts both sides. How difficult of a DIY would this be changing both front shocks springs strut mounts (usually just do the basic maintenance pads discs oil etc) Any suggestions?
  7. Hi all, A member of the fabia community very kindly offered to scan my VRS with VCDS which showed Implausible signal on o/s/r wheel. I’ve checked the fuses above the battery - all fine, internal fuses appear fine. I’ve checked all four wheels and there isn’t any wheel play to suggest a bearing has gone. I thought I’d ask before I make any purchases, would I be right in thinking the next step would be to replace the wheel bearing and abs sensor on the O/S/R? thanks
  8. Alright then, just want to make sure bud thanks
  9. Thanks all for your input, I think I’m going to stick with a stock turbo. Now this company I called have a BorgWarner turbo in stock for exchange £240 + vat, is this the standard kkk turbo that we see on these Fabias? I’ve read that it’s ideal to try and get a garret turbo. cheers
  10. Just an update from my research so far… a GT1752 hybrid turbo is £450 and I can pick up a reconditioned standard pd130 for about £300/£400. Someone says that on a stage 1 remap you can get away with not having to remap again with the GT1752. That seems very reasonable for the price of a turbo which is good.
  11. Hey guys I’m running a simple remap on my pd130 2005 plate which was professionally done via dyno and I believe the turbo has given up and I’m in need of getting it fixed. I’ve read that pd150 might be the way to go as a replacement, Is it a like for like swap? I won’t be doing the repair myself as the car is at the garage. Am I best off just getting the original turbo to be sent off and repaired? I really don’t want to mess about with the mapping on the car. cheers.
  12. I’ve been doing a bit of an audio overhaul in the Mk1 fabia VRS and recently installed a false floor with a subwoofer (which looks and sounds awesome) I am now looking to install some quality speakers at the front of the car (budget £250ish), and understand by reading through the forums that the maximum mounting depth is 62mm. I’m having a hard time finding a pair of speakers which will comfortably fit at the front and I was wondering if anyone on the forum has any advice as to what they opted for. As an example I’ve been looking at the JL C2-650 https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-jl-audio-c2-650_p-33119.htm
  13. I sorted the issue guys! Thanks for all your responses. I cut the blue white wire that is my REM out from the radio and attached my DAB wire to that which is all working now.
  14. Hi guys I’m a bit perplexed by the wiring layout from the Skoda fabia mk1 radio unit. I tried tapping into the blue and white wire for the REM turn on for my amp, alas I discovered with my handy voltmeter that it’s a constant 12v supply. I tested all the pins and it seems that there is only one pin available that switches on and off with the ignition? My understanding was this was an alternative 12v supply and not the REM wire out. Can I wire the powered dab aerial and amp together for this one terminal? I wanted to ideally keep them separate. thanks
  15. Hey guys I saw a few guides on here on installing mk4 recaro seats in a Skoda fabia and thought I would have a stab myself seeing as I picked up the driver and passenger recaro seats for £60. Unfortunately it appears that the seats I acquired have different mounting points to the fabia seat base. There is only one threaded bolt per side where I think there should be two? Now, is it safe enough to simply weld this onto the base of the Skoda fabia seats, or should I sell these on and try again with another set of recaros? Thanks
