Yes we have agreed an amount for my current Skoda car (karoq). The excess amount over what I owe in finance (a lot of cars are bought on finance in UK) is my equity and used as a deposit for my new car. The equity is locked and all I do is continue making my finance payments which offsets against the depreciation on the car. So by march my car value will be less but also my outstanding finance is less. But the equity is kept the same . I just hand my cover on collection of my new car.

Where are you based if you like me asking.. I'm UK and I had to sign a disclaimer saying that there is a long delay and they can not guarantee a date and I cant cancel because of a long wait. Due to the long wait they allow me to drive my car until the handover date and they "lock" in the equity in my current vehicle.

Guessing based on my spec and lead time currently. I would even suggest that your dealer might not be being 100% truthful unless different regions have different waits. Did you have to sign the disclaimer advising you of the delay?

Estimated delivery is march 2022. Assume you're not based in UK. Here in the UK plates registration changes twice a year. March and Sept . So it will be registered as March 22 car.

Today Ordered a hatch vrs in white with DCC and Canton . Been told March for 22 plate . Can't wait.
