  1. Hi thank you for all the replies seems to be a bit of an issue with the steering pump and or sensor replacement .I just think that if a pump had been fitted only 6 months ago maybe they should have been checking the sensor maybe it just one of the things but the second garage took the car put it on the VAG COM and with in 10 minutes were sure that it needed the new sensor.its just strange that the car has now done over a hundred miles and not one warning light.Vokey i apologize if they did spend that long on the car but if they had told the wife that when she picked the car up rather than the frosty reception that she received then maybe things would have panned out differently. Also just a quick note the nice dealer has offered to credit back the cost of the part if it does not fix the problem. Mike
  2. Hi This is a little story to follow on from my Main Dealer Charges. Took the car into dealers on Monday but heard nothing till lunchtime Tuesday only to be told sorry but the power steering pump which we replaced under warranty in January needs replacing again but as your warranty ran out in March the pump is out of warranty, they then went on to say that they had been on to Skoda and they are willing to pay half the cost of the pump as a good will gesture leaving me with a bill for £500.00 and also the air con does not work and needs 2 new seals where the pipes go through the bulk head plus a re gas leaving me with another bill of £200.Also when picking the car up a bill for £78.00 for telling us what was wrong.Didn't think this was right so took it to another Main dealer who have been as nice as pie they took the car into the workshop and came back about 10 minutes later saying that they don't think its the pump at all and would recommend changing the steering angle (yaw) sensor at a total cost of £172.00.Now i think i should be entitled to a refund from the first dealer as they obviously don't know what they are doing they also pi---- my wife off with there attitude as i would have coughed up the best part of £600 and still had the same problem. Any Thoughts. Mike
  3. Hi If you have a part replaced under warranty it is only covered as long as the warranty on the car lasted seems pretty stupid to me. Mike
  4. Hi Update Robinsons have rung me to inform me that i need another new power steering pump but as a good well gesture Skoda will pay half the cost of the new part leaving me with a bill of £500.00 which i think is a bloody cheek considering the pump is only 6 months old but as stated before was only covered as long as the car was in warranty which was all of 2 months. Then to top it all the air con needs 2 new seals where it goes through the bulk head which will cost me another £200.00 but worst still the other half is giving me so much grief that she let me talk her in to getting a VRS and not a proper car!!!.Last bloody Skoda we ever own was her main comment. Will shop round and see if i can get a better deal . :thumbdwn:Mike
  5. Hi No i wish it was warranty ran out in March so only had 2 months warranty on pump. mike
  6. hi Its in for the power steering problem this will be the third time so far have had new pump in Jan under warranty then new battery in april as they said thats what it was and now back in again with same fault plus air con not working. :confused:mike
  7. Hi May seem like a daft question but took my Fabia VRS in to Robinsons Norwich this morning at AM but have not heard a thing. Will they charge a days labour just trying to find out whats wrong with it?. Plus i don't think they are allowed to do any work to the car unless they ask you first i hope!!!. mike
  8. Hi Have the reoccurring problem of the above so have booked car in to Robinson's Skoda in Norwich Norfolk for next Thursday.Spoke to chap in the service dept saying that i was getting all the warning lights etc that i had before they changed the steering sensor in January only to be told that they didn't change the sensor but replaced the pump £450.00 worth apparently. Also he informed me that as the pump was changed under warranty and the warranty on the pump only lasted as long as the car warranty which was up on the 19th of March just 2 month later. But if it was the pump that would go back to Skoda and see what they could do.Is this right?.I'm hoping it more of an electrical fault as some people have said about a wire that could need replacing , as it can't be the battery as i have already replaced that. With all this and the bloody air con not working i,m starting to get p--- off with the car.they are charging £74.00 to service the air con which seems a bit steep but hopefully they will fix it if there is a leak. 10. Hi No first time anythings been near the car since battery change. But have been get the steering ,abs & sar warning lights intermittently since then but not straight away but not had it for over a week now.Only seemed to happen when engine ticking over and turning wheels then steering goes all heavy.Air con not working at all so need to get that checked but sounds as it might not cost an arm and a leg.All i would say is i had the steering sensor changed under warranty in January could that be anything to do with it? Mike Could there be water getting in some where causing these codes as been alright while its been dry? P.S chap was ok with software but didn't want to change anything.
  11. Hi Thanks for the quick reply seems a bit strange as i fitted a new battery about 2 months ago could this point to the alternator? Also the air con was re gased when i bought the car about a year ago and worked fine then so i may have a leak some where?. mike

Thanks Mike:confused:
  13. Bugger Is that an expensive job? Seems a bit poor on what is only just over a 3 year old car. Should that have shown up on vagcom or would it have pointed more towards the battery. can have it checked to see if it is charging can't you. Mike:thumbdwn:
  14. Hi Been looking through all the posts i can find on the VW forums and it seems it could be water getting in the the sensor or the pump or the alternator which is apparently linked to the power steering pump?. Having said that the car was fine for a few weeks after i put a new battery on it but now its started doing the same as it was before i took it in to the main dealers as it was them that said it was a voltage problem so should they have really said change the alternator not the battery or would that have shown up as a different code on there vag com???. Mike:confused:
  15. Hi Did try a full lock each way the other day and the warning light came on on each full lock just seems wierd that sometime you lose the power steering and sometimes it fine. Mike
