Help Needed: Persistent Airbag Light on 2005 Skoda Octavia After Seat Swap
Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my 2005 Skoda Octavia and hoping someone here can help. A while ago, the electric seat module on the driver’s side fried, so I replaced the seat with a manual one from a Superb. During the same repair, I also fixed the AC system. Ever since then, the airbag light has been coming on roughly two months after clearing the fault codes. I’ve had the codes scanned, and it points to the airbag system under the driver’s seat. I’ve already checked the connections under there, and they seem fine, but the problem keeps coming back. I’m wondering if the issue could be tied to the fact that the car was originally equipped with an electric seat. Do you think it would be worth getting another seat control module and trying to reinstall an electric seat? The airbag light wasn’t an issue before I swapped to the manual seat, so I’m thinking it might be related. Here I’ve attached photos of the codes that were found before clearing last. Any advice on how to fix this permanently? Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? Thanks in advance!

2005 Skoda Octavia - Left Dipped Beam Issue
Just a quick update—I went ahead and replaced the ballast, and the light is working perfectly now! Thanks for the advice and suggestions, especially about being cautious with the high voltage and testing things first. For anyone doing this in the future, I had to use an old credit card to release the clips attached to the ballast—it made the job much easier. Really glad I was able to sort this out. Cheers!

2005 Skoda Octavia - Left Dipped Beam Issue
Thanks for the reply and the tips! I’ll definitely make sure everything is disconnected to avoid any issues with the high voltage. About the two connectors on the ballast—do they both pull directly off, or does one need to be removed before the other? I just want to make sure I don’t damage anything while taking it apart. Also, swapping the ballasts or headlights to test sounds like a good idea—I’ll give that a try before buying anything. Thanks again!

2005 Skoda Octavia - Left Dipped Beam Issue
Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and hope you’re all having a great day! I own a 2005 Skoda Octavia with xenon headlights. Recently, I noticed a warning light on the dashboard indicating that the front left dipped beam was defective. I replaced the D1S xenon bulb, but unfortunately, it didn’t fix the issue—the light still isn’t working. After some research, I’m starting to suspect that the problem might be the xenon ballast. I found a used ballast at a junkyard for €100 and am considering replacing it myself to save some money. However, I’m not very mechanically savvy and couldn’t find much information about replacing the ballast online (checked YouTube and a few forums). I’ve attached a couple of images of the ballast for reference. When I scanned the ECU, I got the following error code: 00978:010 - Left low beam headlamp bulb - Open circuit/short circuit to B+ Has anyone replaced a ballast on this model before? Is it something a beginner can manage, or should I leave it to a professional? Any tips, guides, or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
