  1. Thanks for the replies and links. Looks like a telephone call to darkside is in order..........
  2. My VRS PD170 estate has covered 80k and the clutch is now beginning to slip under acceleration. The car was remapped and the DPF removed at about 70k. not sure of the torque figure but I was told the car is now about 210bhp which seems about right reading what others claim following similar work. So It's looking like I need to replace the clutch and DMF in the near future. Has anyone been down this road with a remapped PD170? I'd like recommendations for an uprated clutch as I guess fitting another standard clutch would probably be false economy as I'll be keeping the car for a while. From what I've read so far a single mass conversion is not the way to go with this engine. Any opinions or advice appreciated.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I'll look for someone to reset it for me.
  4. Hi I fitted a parrot bluetooth kit to my octavia the other day and have had the airbag light on ever since. I have done a bit of googling and it looks as though I must have had the ignition on when I disconnected the airbag switch in the glove box. I have used VAG COM in the past to reset nuisance engine management light issues but cannot seem to reset the airbag light. The VAG COM version is 409-1 I believe (free version) and the message I recieve is unable to locate controller, but the engine controller is found no problem so I presume my software settings and cable are good. Can I reset the airbag light with what I have? If so what am I doing wrong? I really don't want a trip to the dealers. Car is a 2008 VRS PD170 with DPF removed and stage 1 map (if thats relevant) Any advice much appreciated.
  5. Anyone got any ideas on how to get the interior roof light/switch module thingy out? I need it out to route my parrot mic. I've removed the two phillips screws that are behind the light but it still wont budge. Any help gratefully recieved!
  6. My car behaved like yours and throttle response was awful......passive then active DPF regen all the time. At first I suspected the DPF was nackered but it turned out to be a faulty exhaust gas pressure sensor. Sensor was replaced under warranty and no problems ever since. I believe that the new sensor is a revised 'improved' design. There is also an ECU update to iron out DPF regen issues but my car had already been done. 26E6 is the code for the ECU upgrade and sensor replacement. Ask your dealer about it.
  7. I have no idea weather or not my car has had that upgrade. Is there any way to check? Found this on the forum - "26E6 - June/July 2008 - Octavia vRS TDI PD170 engines - Full ECU remap and fitting of modified/upgraded Exhaust Gas Pressure Sensor; to resolve DPF regeneration issues" This sounds like exactly what I need as the DPF light has been on a few times and the car is frequently trying to regen. Looks like a trip to the dealers for me. One last thing..... I'm covered under Skoda aproved used warranty. Am I covered for this and can I take the car to any Skoda dealer for the work? Cheers.
  8. I have an error code on my car indicating an exhaust pressure sensor fault. Doing a search it turns out that there have been other cases of sensor failure and pipe 'blockages'. Unfortunately I can't find find any information as to where this sensor is located. Can anyone point me in the direction of where it is located? I'd like to check it myself before heading to the dealers. Thanks in advance........
  9. Thanks for the reply. Just ran the car up the motorway for 20 miles and its running fine again now. Thanks again!
  10. Hi, Got an issue with my car being hesitant at low revs and not 'picking up' smoothly. Also tickover seems to change between 800 and 1000rpm without any apparent reason? Problem is not consistent with outside air conditions / cold engine ect. Anyone else had this? Car is a 56 plate with 35k on the clock. Cheers, Paul.
  11. Sorry to hear the cylinder head replacement didn't work but I'm also quite relieved from a personal point f view. My car continues to splutter on cold morninigs. I wonder if the time setting for the glow plug is a problem.....On my car its set to 2 seconds (checked on a friends diagnostic thingy) I wonder if increasing this time might have a positive effect???? Sounds like we are all back to square one.
  12. Thaks for the replies......got the trim off today and the found the pipe loose. Refitted it and put it back together......lets hope it stays together.
  13. Anyone give me advice on how to remove the boot lid trim? Looks like the rear wash wipe is leaking as i have soapy screen wash all along the boot seal. I've already had the pipe detach itself in the boot but it looks like the problem has moved. Its also a bit odd because I never use the rear washer for fear of it leaking! Car is a late 2006 vRS TDI. Cheers. PS why cant Skoda come up with a screen wash system that doesn't block or leak on a weekly basis......total ****e.
