  1. Yes, there is a purple plastic locking mechanism, but that could have been a great solution. Unfortunately, it seems to prevent pin insertion as well.
  2. I tried to do as you told me but without success. I don't know why, but I can't get it to lock into the plug and I don't want to break the cable. I will have some free time next week to try to remove the plug, it will be harder that way but I think it is the safest solution.
  3. Ok so T11b/6 the correct one for my car, and I'll have to connect the red wire to any wire with a terminal 15 ignition switched feed. I got a better picture of the red plug. Since I can't clearly see from this picture, I guess that pin 6 would be the one I circled in white ? Now I need to find a way to remove the plug, it's really hard to do anything because of where they are located. Is there a way to remove the relay holder to have a better access to these plugs ? Or any other way ?
  4. Hi, I bought a cruise control retrofit kit, part number BEA 400 002 to install in my Fabia. Everything is installed and I now have to connect the wires for the cruise control. My issue is that I don't know where to plug the cables. I have a red one and a black one with a pin at the end. The manual says to connect the black wire to the T11a / PIN 10, and the red wire to the "terminal +15". From what I've read it should be a white socket on the cross wall, but pin 10 of my white socket is already busy. I read that it could be PIN 6 on the red plug, but I have no idea. I'll take better pictures tomorow of the plugs that I have. These are the plugs located behind the instrument cluster. And this is the wiring loom that I got. Thanks.
  5. Yes in the end I think it would be easier to put a set of coilovers, I saw some of them for 250ish euros on ebay. Don’t know why I havent looked at this possibility before. I had in mind that coilovers were not confortable. I guess it can’t be worse than lowered springs on sport shocks, since I don’t want to lower it that much. For a full replacement with shocks, springs and everything it was around 400€, and that was with « basic » parts. So it may even be cheaper that way.
  6. Yes I also think that it can be something with the settings of the shocks. And yes of course I would go for new shocks, mine are the stock ones and I don't think it would be safe to ride with worn stock shocks with lowered springs. So one option would be to install sport shocks with shorter springs.
  7. I know a shorter spring will lower the car, my question was more about the compression of the different springs, if there is a difference. I guess a stiffer spring will compress less than a looser spring? I'm not sure if it's a thing with OEM springs like comparing the VRS ones with the standard ones. Didn't knew about the shorter drop links, it says they are needed for a drop of 40mm and over. I kept it anyway in case I need it. Thank you. The shocks do have a different part number between the sport suspension and the standard suspension, but I have seen replacement shocks listed as "compatible" with the suffixes BH, BJ (standard) and BL (sport). I don't know if there is a physical difference between these parts. I'd like to even out the gap all around the rim in the wheel arch, I measured about 6cm on the sides and 9-10cm above the rim on my car. Something like you have on the front of your VRS @DieselMonte would be perfect for me. In any case, thank you all for your responses.
  8. Hi, I would like to lower my 1.2 Fabia by 30mm at the front and rear. After looking at the specs of the springs fitted to my car, it looks like they are around 350mm at the front (6Q0411105AE) and around 340mm at the rear (6Q0511115K). From what I found, it looks like the shocks are the same reference for both standard and sport suspension, but the springs are different. The "sport suspension" springs are about 30mm shorter than mine according to the specs I found on internet. So my question is, have I done my homework correctly and are the springs fitted on vehicle with the sport suspension compatible with my shocks ? And if they are, will the "sport suspension" springs really lower the car ? Thank you.
  9. So a little more information on what I did to the car, especially the wheels. I took some pictures of the alloy renovation I did this summer. It cost me 90 € for the materials, and a lot of patience. They were primed using Motif grey primer, painted with Motip 55240 silver paint and covered with Motip 1K matt clear coat. Here is the before and after, and a link to all the photos I took, with some more informations on the process. No problem at all for the moment, the paint did not fall off or peel even when pressure washing them or using chemicals. I will probably redo them later but this time in a gloss or satin finish.   10. Ahah, yes I think she wouldn't be too happy if I stole the wiring from her new car. But if it was the same wiring, I could replicate it in my car.
  11. Unfortunately yes, it was the same story for my rear speakers, I had to use my own wiring from the head unit to the rear deck. My mom just bought a 2012 MK2 Fabia, and it has the electric mirrors. But I don't know if they use the same wiring as in the MK1.
  12. Yes that's also what I thought, I think that none of the wiring is there if the option wasn't there from the factory. I don't necessarily need them, but they would have been useful for the winter. It was just an idea of something I could add if it's not too complicated or expensive to do. If you have the wiring diagram for the mirror, I would like to get it if you don't mind @Wino.

  14. On the data sticker inside the trunk it says 17-5-2059. I don't know if it could help you know the date of manufacture. Pickup date from dealership is 24-5-2006.
  15. Flat ground is great for fuel economy, I managed to get 6.5L/100km in town when driving slowly. I saw your Fabia with the new windscreen, it looks really good !
  16. It's pretty much flat where I live so most of the time it's actually fine Ok so I'll have to do some more research then. I know there is a module with 3 connectors and one of them for mirrors, which has a brown / yellowish square connector I believe. But I also saw that there is a version of the mirror with a flat black connector. What I don't know is which one I need. It would make my life a lot easier if I don't have to change the window modules. But then I guess I'll need some new wiring for the mirrors? I am interested to know if you have more information on this. I believe that I will not have to pay anything, my insurance covers completely the costs in the event of repair, and for a replacement, the franchise is supported by the company which takes care of the replacement of the windshield. But I may be wrong, I'll let you know when I'll do it.
  17. Yes honestly I can't complain about this engine, it is not very powerful but sufficient for a first car as you say. I have not yet encountered a problem with this engine. For the fog lights I found an OEM style wiring diagram to retrofit them. I will have to take the time to check for myself how this can be done on the Fabia. It doesn't look very hard to do. For the electric mirrors, I know I will need different power window modules, obviously the mirrors, the switch and probably VCDS (I have OBDEleven, not sure if I can do that with). But that's not important at the moment because it would only be for added comfort. Thank you, I'll post very soon the pictures I took of the alloys.
  18. This is my first car, a 2006 Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP with BME engine. Bought it for only 1500€, which I think is a very good value for what I got. It had 96 000km on the clock, a broken passenger power window, and some little things to repair here and there. I have had it for a year and a half and have already made quite a few modifications to it. I'll try to remember everything to document it on this post. What I already done to the car : - Install a bluetooth headunit (Pioneer MVH-S420BT), replaced front speakers (JBL Stage2 624) and installed rear ones ad the wiring was just not there (JBL Stage2 424). - Repair the broken passenger power window. It took a lot longer than it should, I stripped everything down and it turns out it was a missing CANBUS pin in the A-pillar connector (from body to door). - Buy and refurbish original VRS alloys. (I took a lot of picture so I'll need to find a way to share this with you) - Change Dashboard and buttons LEDs from green to cool white. (I have a few photos and videos of the process that I'll share later as it's still work in progress) and more small repairs or upgrades... And here's a list of thing I want to do, or think of doing later : - Install a rear anti-roll bar, lowered springs and shocks to go with it. - Polish the whole car and put ceramic coating on it after doing some paint touch-up following ChrisFix video. The paint has some defects such as deep scratches and rock chips. - Get the windshield replaced (or repaired, if possible) because a small rock decided to land on it while I was driving. - Retrofit front anti-fog lights and electric wing mirrors.
  19. I managed to remove the module without taking every part of the dashboard out. My fingers hurt from trying to remove the 2 black connectors, in such a tight space, thanks to the little tabs that are so hard to release. Anyway, I opened it and the 2 switches sits where @Wino pointed on his picture. They definitely don't fit behind the knob. The mecanism that tells which fan speed is selected is the copper part we can see on the black plastic thing. The knob is just here to turn this copper plate. Now that the 2 switches are in place, the vent control knob feel a little different and stays better when in position. I still don't know what they are for, but they're back in place. For Fabia owners, I made a hole at the bottom of where the headunit seat to get access to the back of the module. This way, you can release the module from the front without taking the whole dashboard out. Anyway thank you for your answers.
  20. Thanks for your detailed answer @Wino, I took a video of the board before desoldering the LEDs, and it seems like my board is the same as yours. I only have 2 pads for the 2 switches. I think that the previous owner already took it apart because the 2 switches fell when I removed the fan speed knob. No idea how that would happen otherwise. Here's the video of the board. I'll keep you updated when I'll take it apart, it's a pain to remove the entire lower part of the dash just to get this module out.
  21. Ok, make sense that they are contacts since they are made from metal. From what I can see, I was right thinking that they are going into the back of the knob, but I looked at it for a long time and still can't figure out which way the switches go. By the look of it, the switches can't stick out of the knob because they'll hit the white housing. The larger plastic part of the switch can't fit in the hole behind the knob. For me, the part of the switch circled in red in going behind the knob where I circled in red, but it does not fit properly so I guess I may be wrong.
  22. Hi, I change the LEDs on my heater controller, and those 2 pieces fell during disassembly. I can't figure out how to put them back, and it seems they serve no function as I can still control fan speed without these. If anyone knows. Thanks
  23. Thank you, but unfortunately this is the same type of switch as the repair guide that @Boyes gave. There are so many different type of switch and connector for the same car, that's insane. I saw a teardown of an Audi A3 light switch similar to the one I have, and the only way to remove the button is to break it off. It seems to be attached by 2 clips at the very end when looking from the inside. I don't think it's possible to do it without breaking it.
