  1. Thanks Ken I thought that would be the case. This forum is fantastic I have to say! Shame all owners club forums/fb groups aren’t this friendly.
  2. Thanks everyone that’s wonderful news! Should easily keep me going until I get my house and beyond. I’ve been told today to also change the tensioner when the belt and water pump are done. Is this something that would be done anyway when this job is undertaken?
  3. Fantastic, thank you very much. I’ve got it booked in to be done next week and I’ll be using the polo in the meantime. I’m so glad I bought this car! Reminds me of my old 1.9 gt tdi mk4 golf, so lovely to drive.
  4. Hi all. Yesterday I bought a 2005 1.9 sdi mk1 Fabia in order to sell my stage 1 6c polo gti to put towards a house deposit. As long as the Fabia ownership goes smoothly for the next month or two I will then look to sell the polo. The mileage is just below 200k and I know they’re pretty bulletproof. The clutch was last changed in 2019 however the cambelt and water pump haven’t been done since 88k miles in 2013!! This is something I’ll be looking to get done straight away and I’ve had a quote from my other half’s mechanic mate for £280 which I’m happy with. It’s been serviced annually so I know it’s been generally looked after in its 16 years of age but my question is, is there anything else I should be doing to keep it running for the next year or so until I get a house and won’t be so worried if it dies? Thanks!
