  1. Is your car lowered? The measurements I took were when lowered (actually did it before as well, but forgot the numbers), with the stock Trinity wheels fitted. Unless my alignment was/is way off camber wise, other than different wheels design/width/offset causing the disparity, I can’t see a Sportline being that different to the L&K with regards to stock geometry. I wouldn’t see the need to run a staggered set even with that much difference front to rear. If it’s a real concern, run 8.5” or 9” wide all around and a lower offset or spacers in the rear to even it out.
  2. Before I ordered the wheels I had a quick check to see what would be 'flush'. Basically I just dropped an improvised plumb line down from the outside edge of the wheelarch, and measured to the face of the stock wheel. If I remember correctly, it was ~ 22mm in the rear, and ~24mm up front. I also mounted up the 19x9.5 +45 wheels that are now on the golf to see where, if anywhere, I may have had issues with interferences on the inside.
  3. It's fairly close, with maybe around 10mm or so between front wheel and the strut, but nothing that would concern me. In the rear, again, close but not too bad with the shock...closest thing is the liner, but even that seems to be ok. Haven't had an alignment yet...will do after I get a few more km's on the springs and new wheels/tyres. But otherwise, no negative camber deliberately dialed in over and above that which may be present from lowering. Yes, a Dolphin Grey Mk8 GTi. We kept the wheels from a previous car back in Canada and shipped them over here with our belongings to Bahrain. Got the GTi and decided to give them a try. Now these really are a tight fit at 19x9.5, +45 offset, but nothing touching or rubbing so far!
  4. So, almost 5 months into ownership, and I'm still really liking the Superb. Went down the road of lowering, with Eibach Pro-Kit, a few weeks back, and that pushed me to either buy some spacers as a temporary solution, or finally make my mind up on some wheels. Read as much as I could on sizing and offsets, but still needed to take an educated guess/leap of faith. Straying from my Japanese wheel roots, I ended up going with Judd Model One, 20x9.5 et40, in Gloss Gunmetal (would have done Brushed Titanium if they were in stock). Tyres are Michelin PS4S, 255/35r20 in size. Yes, I know that's a little larger than stock OD, but it was a deliberate choice to maintain some sidewall. No rubbing so far, thankfully. Outside pics are with the stock wheels/tyres loaded in the back, hence why it sits a little lower in those pics. Will try and get some better pics sometime over the next week or so.
  5. Living in Saar - West side, close to the causeway, as I work in Saudi. Not that Bahrain is particularly big, but saving 15 to 20 minutes each way on the commute while still living on the more comfortable side of the "bridge" is a good enough reason for me to stay over this way. Skoda doesn't seem to have much of a following here yet. The car does get a surprising amount of attention however, mainly from people who are curious as to what it is.
  6. I'll apologize in advance if this trends to one of those "use the search function" type of threads, but as a newbie to the forum, and Skoda's in general, I'm a little confused. I've had my 2.0TSi L&K for about a month now, and really do like it, but the spec is a little curious to me. The car is a brand new 2021, with the usual expected facelift accoutrements etc etc, however, it has a 6spd DSG (not 7 spd) and a CJX engine code. I'm assuming it's just a regional peculiarity (I live in Bahrain) but would like to understand what I have should I ever decide to go down the road of an ECU/TCU tune etc at some point. Can I assume with the CJX engine code that it's a non-GPF car? Can I assume the 6 spd would indicate it's a DQ250? The thoughts/knowledge of the wider audience would be appreciated in my quite obvious lack of familiarity here.
  7. Lamentably crap picture, but here's my Race Blue L&K 2.0 TSi. Not necessarily a complete stranger to VAG cars, but this is the first Skoda I've ever owned. Once drove my uncle's Estelle way back in the day, but things have moved on a bit since then
  8. Oh, I’m sure it’s changed massively. I was last here, albeit briefly, just over twenty years ago, and it’s almost unrecognizable now. The British Club is still around though, with the Rugby Club now being it’s own entity.
  9. Greetings from sunny (and currently breezy) Bahrain. Fairly recently moved over here after spending 15 years in Canada, where the vast majority of folks have no idea what a Skoda is. Born and raised in Hampshire (Fareham), but haven't really lived there full time since '97. In an effort to avoid completely conforming to the regional norm by buying a LandCruiser or Patrol etc, we bought a Mk8 Golf GTi, and should be adding to the VAG family with a Superb L&K hatch at the end of this week. Pictures will of course be forthcoming as and when time allows. Cheers, Mark
