  1. As an owner of several convertible MGs in the past I have adopted the same technique on my Estelle as I always used on them. Take out all carpets and drill a hole in the floor. That way what comes in drains out again. Graham
  2. My Haynes Estelle manual has a wiring diagram which is next best to useless as it doesn't have any of the cable colours on it! Haynes, re-assembly is a reversal of the removal process, arrrghhhhhh. Graham:)
  3. Can you get them scanned to pdf, that would be easier than typing them. Graham
  4. Video of me and Nigel Jones in action in our estelles at the MG car club Production Car Trial in September. Nigel (red car) beat me by 4 points. Graham
  5. As far as I know the letter is a speed rating, see Speed Rating for more info, but that may be the letter at the end not the R/T you refer to.
  6. Yes I am using a 14mm plug spanner as the replacement plugs I was supplied have 14mm body. I think you might be telling me I have been supplied the wrong plugs as as well as using the wrong spanner. Are you telling me the plugs are 10mm??????? Are the N14YCs mentioned in the earlier post 10mm? I was sold NGK BP6HRS plugs as replacements. Graham
  7. Thanks for that anewman. I already have an assortment of plug spanners and none of the b*g*r* fit! All of mine are too big to go over the plug in the recess in the head. Cheers Graham
  8. What size are they? I have tried to get my calipers in to measure the head and just can't get in. The two plug spanners I have won't fit in, both too big and I don't want to go to Halfrauds and spend a wad only to find I've got the wrong one. Looks to me like a socket type spanner won't fit as the clearance round the plug is so small. Would I be better off buying a good old box spanner? Cheers Graham
  9. Thanks for the info, I'll cross that off the list of possibles then. Graham
  10. Tell me more please, where in Bridgewater????? Graham
  11. Yes JC had an 1100 in fawlty Towrs, however the film clockwise, which he also starred in features an austin 1100 throughtout the entire field and many scenes take place either in the front of the 1100 or outside it with the 100 in the shot. It is a fabulous film and contains some great shots of period traffic. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clockwise_(film) Clockwise stars a Morris 1100 and Fawlty Towers stars an Austin 1300. Graham
  12. Yes I inherited the 1100 when he gave up driving, it was a luxury replacement for my Triumph Herald (which was fitted with a spitfire 1200 twin carb engine). I used to beat the 1100 regularly with a stick though, worst car I have ever driven, and I have driven some awful cars in my time. Graham
  13. I see the Combi comes complete with a Feu Orange air freshener. My Grandad used to have those in all his cars, a Riley 1.5, Vanden Plas 1300 and Austin 1100. Do they still make them? It's a very distinctive smell, Feu Orange, Balkan Sobranie pipe tobacco and Austin upholstery. Those were the days. Graham
  14. I think every competitor got a wrong test at some point in the day, me included. The thing with the big grass autotests is the routes are so much longer than short tarmac ones so there is so much more to remember. Graham
  15. Did my first competitive event in the Estelle today, a grass autotest. See the action at Graham
