  1. Update; After nearly a month of no obvious issues and beginning to wonder about my diagnosis (and not doing a lot of miles), I hit limp mode twice in quick succession yesterday, then after threatening it with the OBD reader I had in the car I couldn't recreate the fault. VCDS this morning confirmed it; 2 Faults Found: 4891 - EGR Valve (N18) P0403 00 [096] - Malfunction Intermittent - Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear So it looks like I'll be trying to get quotes for the replacement this week and take a judgement on it from there. The car is on just shy of 104k now. Belt and pump were done ~76k Any "might as well" jobs to consider being done alongside if it does go to a garage and end up with hours in labour anyway?
  2. Hi Guys, Fairly sure my EGR cooler is leaking - slow loss of coolant, intermittent white smoke/steam but oil is fine. No visible leak externally, tested the coolant yesterday and the bubble test confirmed combustion gas leaking into the coolant. Reading up on the issues and watching some how-to's it doesn't normally look a terrible job to replace the unit however it's also suggested on various forums/threads its a pig of a job on the 4x4 and about 8 hours labour, mostly in getting access but I can't find any great detail, other than the transfer box being in the way. Does anyone have any direct experience of the job on a 4x4 model? I'm fairly competent on the tools as I've spent years working on bikes, is it nuts to try and attempt as a home job?
