  1. Thanks all You were right. Camshaft was gone Got mechanic to swap it out as between work and kids I don't have any spare time!!! Got a new timing belt fitted. So good for another 100,000km

  3. Hi all, So with my great luck, I have a car that I just spent 500€ getting through the NCT to now having a horrible noise coming from the engine. An hour before the NCT the car started making this noise in the video below. But went away on the way to the NCT. Thought ok maybe it was nothing. Nope on the way back from the NCT it sounded horrible. Not sure what it could be. Car still drives and pulls but is shaking when accelerating. Noise gets worse the higher you rev. Thought it could be something on the alternator belt, a bearing or something but when I squeeze the air/boost hoses it feels like it's popping inside.(sounds strange but the best way I can describe it now). https://youtu.be/9uDKKnELdiE?si=6w8CQRn_LAGWEH9F Any help is appreciated
  4. Hi all, Looking at purchasing a 2010 superb 1.9tdi 105. Elegance model. Looks to have all the bells and whistles. Mileage is 430,000km. Was told a timing belt was fitted at 420km , had a new clutch, fuel pump and fuel filter. Before I go have a look at it, what should I be looking out for on these? Any advice Appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Thanks lads. Changed the thermostat today. Was a bit of a pain in the ass. I see this Octavia doesn't have a drain nipple on the bottom of the radiator(that I could find find ) so just placed a big tray underneath the thermostat and pulled the thermostat housing out slowly and let the coolant drain into the tray. The thermostat was stuck in the engine block, took a couple of bangs with a screwdriver and hammer but eventually got out. Fitted new thermostat and filled with coolant and bleed. Now temperature goes up to 90 and sits there the whole time. Happy days . Battery was tested and is all fine. I think it's an earth leakage somewhere in the starter so another day I will investigate further.
  6. Thanks gonna change the thermostat this weekend. Going to see how much one is from Skoda themselves tomorrow. I tested the battery and battery seemed ok but I'll see if Halfords can test for free. The light on the fob works and lights up when I press any of the buttons. Ye my guess is there a cable somewhere that's in bits and now the fob can't communicate with the car.
  7. Hi all, I'm a new skoda owner since Friday . It is a 2008 1.9 TDI 105bhp. I'm having a few issues with it. #1. Temperature gauge stays between 60-70 degrees when Im driving. But when I'm idling or in stop go traffic it goes up to 90 degrees . I'm thinking thermostat ? Any ideas? #2. When I go start the car it clicks and sounds like a dead battery but after holding for a few seconds it cranks and starts. Any ideas? Lazy starter? #3. The buttons on the key don't work,so no central locking , so have to use the key in the door. Also the lock/unlock doors inside the car doesn't work either. Any ideas? Sorry just got this car and seem to always have trouble with cars I get!
