1.9tdi, 2003 fabia estate

Hi, i have today bought a 2003 Fabia estate for my son, it has covered 121k and has extensive service history. when I arrived home with her from the 2hr journey, later a small oil leak could be seen on the road inline with the driver front corner/light (thought it was diesel at first as it below filter area). Atm the tray is on and is wet in that area. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a possible common cause before i get under on the weekend and remove tray to inspect. Thanks inadvance Todd
