Hey guys! Apologies in advance if this is discussed elsewhere! I can't quite believe my luck. I bought my 04 fabia vrs apparently mechanically sound...HA! Fast forward a week after buying and she's been in the garage for just shy of 3 weeks for a new gearbox, dual mass & clutch... joy. She went in with a whine and crunch going in and out of 5th. Bought a second hand HDS box done 71k from a breakers for £300 (inc 90 day warranty thank god) and no joke.... it is doing the same bloody thing. Am I missing a trick here? Could it be something other than the box? My mechanic is a little perplexed too and I have the world's biggest headache! On a positive note, she does have a sexy set of fabia vrs se leathers installed now. However, one locking handle on the back set of seats has snapped off, is this an easy fix. 🙄 Thanks in advance Stace x

Buttercup has some surface rust on the sills, corner of the wheel arches, little on the bonnet edge and scuffs to her bumpers (which also need new clips, any direction on where to order bumper clips would be great guys 🙂). I don't think she's ever seen polish in her life, so is currently an array of yellows. I will attach some piccys later 🙂 I was super-duper lucky and able to get my hands on a set of se leather seats and door cards, which she's having installed in a couple of weeks. So if anyone is after a set of pretty decent cloths, I have some going 🙂 Going to tackle the leaky doors sometime this week, common issue I believe so watch out for this. Found some super fix vids on YouTube for this. Hey, silver ain't so bad! I think silver looks sexy with the contrast of the black trims, and dents are character hey! Rusty pics to follow.

Thanks guys! With a bit more digging I've been able to find one from a vrs which had done 71k. So that's gear boxed sorted I hope! Another question, bodywork. Buttercup needs some rusty bits doing and a respray. I've been quoted £1350. Any recommendations in a 50 miles radius of SY21?

Me again, does it matter that this gear box is from an ibiza with a 74kw engine output when mine is 96kw? Thanks in advance!

Hey all! I'm in need of some gearbox advice please, complete newbie here! This is my first post so please accept my apologies if this has been asked elsewhere. I collected my yellow (Aptly named buttercup by my 4 year old daughter) mk1 vrs in need of a little love on the 14th of October. I was assured by the seller (a mechanic) that she is mechanically sound. Test driven, deposit paid and super excited me. Fast forward, she's in need of a new gearbox. She has a HDS gearbox currently. Would this HDS from a Seat Ibiza be compatible? Or would the gearbox mounting be different? Thanks in advance! Stace x
