  1. The (Swing/6V0035869D) radio in my 2018 Fabia Mk3 (UK) has an intermittent overheating fault and I'm contemplating (affordable) replacement options. I'm not massively keen on the EBay/secondhand route although I haven't been able identify anywhere selling identical new replacements. Neither am I keen of going back to the dealer as I suspect this would be expensive. So it looks like I'm limited to the aftermarket route. The trouble with the latter is the existing unit has the "car button" functionality (TPMS, Green Score, time to next service) and the "Park pilot" (rear parking radar) features which I really don't want to loose. I have seen sites claiming to offer something called "Skoda aftermarket android" radios but they are a bit vague on how/if/how well they integrate with such existing functionality. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to current ICE terminology. I basically need something with DAB+, Bluetooth, AM/FM and USB audio playback options which integrates with my existing car functionality (especially the Parkpilot radar). What are my options ?
  2. FLAC in theory offers the best audio quality. MP3 is more widely supported though and at a decent bitrate (160 Kb/s or above) should be fine for in-car use. Another contender (not on your list) is AAC which offers decent audio at smaller file sizes. How much of an advantage that is is somewhat debatable given how cheap storage media is these days.
  3. Its not immediately obvious (there is no branding/labelling on the radios themselves) and there's also some variation (particularly in the "Swing range") between different generations. But on the Mark 3 range the "Swing" radio has three buttons on either side of the display screen whereas the Amundsen and Bolero have four. To further differentiate them look at the row of buttons on the Right hand side of the screen, They are labelled as follows (Top to Bottom): Swing: Setup, Sound, Car. Amundsen: Nav, TMC, Car, Menu. Bolero: Setup, Sound, Car, Menu.
  4. The radio in my 2018 Fabia is acting up it keeps turning itself on and off (when its off the display goes blank) although when it comes back on its still at the same radio station etc it was tuned to when it stopped. If I drive with the radio turned of the clock display comes and goes but it doesn't loose time/revert to 12:00 Sometimes (not always) when it comes back on I get the message "Component Protection Active" Also the issue seems to be temperature related. i.e. when powered on from cold will work for maybe 15-30 minutes before it starts powering up and down with increasing frequency. Tried disconnecting the battery overnight (to rule out firmware issues) and factory reset to no avail. I've tried looking for replacements online to little avail. No new units seem to be available and second hand units are fairly expensive for what they are. I've considered aftermarket (double DIN) replacements but am worried about loosing functionality of the "car" button like Green score, TPMS, time to next service, and especially the rear parking radar sensor. Are there any replacement options which don't involve sacrificing this functionality ? Alternatively are Skoda branded replacement options available for a reasonable price ?
