  1. Hello All, does anyone know if there is a way to find out the overall MPG since I had 0 miles on the clock. I'm now at 50K miles and the curiosity in me would like to know the number. Obviously I can't use 'since start' or 'since refuelling' and I use the 'long term' for recording work mileage, so this gets reset numerous times a week. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
  2. Yup, had most of those problems in the early days, thankfully not anymore. It took numerous visits (around 4, possibly 5) of overnight sleepovers for my car in the dealers garage. It was all down to software / firmware updates for me, though who knows how that translates to your own specific situation. Typically the Skoda dealer never admitted that there's plenty of software issues with my car, rather waiting for me to tell of them of the issues when they were present. Luckily, mines on a lease and ending in June and such a shame I'll be jumping off the Skoda ownership wagon, my 2015 Octavia L&K was amazing.
  3. Hello All, how's the driving system error warning going for everyone? I've been fault free on this one for about 6 months, a clear record based on experience, until today. A year or so ago, I went off to a work meeting a few hours drive away, and the obligatory drive system fault starting on the journey and was binging on and off in typical fashion. I got to the destination and turned the car off, and as I was waiting for a colleague, I grabbed some stuff out of the boot but kept the boot open and sat there for about 15-20 mins. The car kind of shuts down after about this time period, turns the interior lights off etc, and as I was grabbing something out of the front I noticed the clock reset itself to midnight. At this point, i grab my bits, locked the car up and went on with the meeting, returning a few hours later. Lo and behold, the drive system error warning didn't re-appear on the return journey, which in typical style it would have done, only resetting itself after leaving it overnight I've found. Fast forward to today and I thought I'd give this a try as I wasn't under any time pressures. Warning starts bing bonging this morning on a local trip, I get home, turn the car off, open the boot, grab my keys and head inside for about 30 mins leaving the car unlocked, before then heading back out. Et voila, no reoccurring drive system error warning. I imagine it would work the same if you just left the car door open and you were sat in it, but the ignition needs to be off as if you're about to leave the car but don't lock it. You're waiting for that timer out function when it shuts the systems down. Maybe I've just been lucky on this occasion, but in the hindsight of any fix materialising, it's worth a shot next time you're wondering how much worse Mk4 ownership can get!
  4. My car has been experiencing this on and off over the last 12 months, with no obvious routine, other than it normally errors about an hour into a journey, The error for me though doesn't latch on and pings on and off constantly, really tests the patience on a 3 hour trip to the South Coast. I could go 3 months with nothing and then two back to back journey within a week when it happens, and then nothing for 2 months. Needless to say I ignore it apart from the annoying tone being sounded every 5 seconds or so. I had it in to the dealer for other errors before Xmas, and they said they'd never seen this sporadic fault before, although they could see it in the log. The outcome was that they needed the car to show the fault, and then plug in with diagnostics to be able to find a technical update. I let them keep the car for a week and of course it didn't fault. I had it yesterday on a 2.5 hour trip but haven't had it for maybe 6 weeks. 21 plate 150 Diesel, SE L Spec, DSG with 30K miles. It would be good to get this one sorted as after 2.5 years of ownership I've almost got rid of all the other faults.
  5. Had a similar issue this weekend, only presenting itself after around 45 mins of driving. We were on a 3 hour trip down to Brighton, though the warning wouldn't 'latch' on, it was continually pinging away with the same message as yours every couple of seconds. You want to see how annoying that is on a 2 hour and 15 minute journey to Brighton, with passengers!! It also said performance restricted and it would give a minor lurch before resetting itself and doing the same a few seconds later. It was driveable and I was doing motorway speeds but it's yet another gremlin in the system. It went in earlier this year for 4 days across 2 visits to have everything updated so I thought all bugs had been ironed out. We stopped a couple of times at services for around 30 minutes to see if it would reset, though only after leaving it overnight did that actually work. The trip back yesterday was no problem. Desperately trying to get rid of this car, though it looks like I'm tied for another 2 years in the company car lease. Shame really, as the previous 2015 L&K Octavia Estate was amazing. This is a 21 plate, 2.0TDI Estate SE L and DSG.
  6. What a pain! I turned KESSY off in the end and have left it off. I've had no problems since and that was back in November. Still have all the other gremlins though, popping speaker, SOS warning light coming on with every journey over about 1.5 hours and more recently had a drive system fault. Just ignored them all to be honest and they all go away temporarily.
  7. There was nothing I did that stopped the alarm, though I would say it was going for 5 mins, and would put it down to a time out function.
  8. Hi all, long time reader, first time poster. So my car this evening decided that it would sound the alarm...again....but this time no amount of pressing on the key fob, and the other spare fob, starting and stopping the engine etc...would make it shut up. My plan after a few minutes was to drive the car to the nearest trading estate to try and work out what is going on, and yes the alarm was still going off whilst I was driving the car!! A new one for me this is. This happened after taking the dog for a walk, walking past the car with the key in my pocket and then a minute later the alarms going off. This has been a slightly common situation, when the car has detected that my key is near but not actually getting in the car which then seems to trigger the alarm. Didn't see anything in the manual about this and needless to say I've now turned KESSY off. Will watch this space, though it does make me wonder what we're achieving here. I'd love to turn off Lane Assist permanently, shorten the distance on the adaptive cruise control for motorway driving or just give me back standard cruise control as it's far too over cautious, and then finally take a hammer to the sat nav screen with it losing all the settings, temperature controls etc. and i must have pressed 'Sync' on the Clima screen a thousand times and turned the air con off already in the few months I've had it. Anyway, I must get round to booking it in for an update, though just thought the alarm fiasco was worth sharing.
