  1. Thanks for that Murdockman. When I managed to get the nearside window working it was stiff and the glass tilted and jammed a couple of times so I will clean and lubricate them as you suggest. I figured that the check strap would need to come off to get the door wide enough for decent access. Will clean the plug up and smear some petroleum jelly on as you suggest. I am probably going to drill the speaker rivets off so I get accsess to the wiring to check for any broken ones as well. Easy job and may as well while the door card is off. Once again, thanks for your input. It all helps.
  2. Thanks Wino. I will check fuse 11 as I have checked that many things I can't remember wether this was one of them. Might remove door card (again) and drill the rivets out of the speaker to get to the back of the door entry grommet. I feel some soldering coming on!
  3. Hi everybody. I am trying to sort a MK2 Fabia for an eldery relative. It is a 1.6 petrol combi, 59 plate and owned by him from new with only 38000 on the odometer. Below is the situation I have found. Intermittent window fault on both front doors (manual rears) from 18 months ago. Stopped working approx. 1 year ago. Car has been stood for about 9 months. Charged battery and started car. Reset windows as per Skoda instructions but did not work. Also disconnected battery and reset but, again, did not work. Checked fuses and, due to it being difficult to tell in situ, pulled both window fuses. Passenger side window then worked for several cycles before failing again. Drivers door did not work. Pulled passenger window fuse again for 30+ seconds and window worked again then stopped after a dozen or so cycles. This is now the norm for this window. All other functions in both doors work i.e. central locking (key only as basic model), speakers work and window switches illuminate. Have checked wiring to door by pulling grommet back from A pillar and it does not appear to be broken, but could be further into the door I suppose. Comfort function on central locking does not work either even when the passenger window is functioning. Not a Skoda owner myself and have have not come across this for years (a FIAT in the early 80's) and it was the loom into the door which had chafed through on a few wires but would not really expect this in the 2000's. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. I am considering the door loom or the comfort module. Is there a reset for the comfort module? Also, where is it located? Many thanks
