  1. Quick update: Used some hose repair tape on what I thought was a perfectly fine crankcase breather hose (to potentially get rid of the acrid smell while I find the smoking exhaust problem) .......... Ran it up to temp while looking /listening for faults. Did some mixed driving styles this evening. Also got 1/4 turn on turbo clamp bolt, don't think this had any effect. Results are as follows : Acrid smell is less obvious in the cab (think the smell is impregnated for now) ✅ Exhaust smoke at idle has pretty much disappeared ✅ Exhaust smell is 100% better ✅ Having fun driving (not dogging) no obvious smoke clouds ✅ Looking like this could of cured my cars problems? Next step. Order a replacement crankcase breather hose. Keep you all updated if anything changes. Looks like I'm going to be keeping my car for now 😊 Thank you for your advice 👍 I would also like to mention that the hose seemed absolutely fine on inspection! Obviously it wasn't. Hope this can help anyone who may have the same issues.
  2. Haven't noticed anything like that. Would that have any effect on the exhaust smoking?
  3. Hi all. Need some advice which will either mean I keep or sell my car. I have a 2012 (I belive it is a mk2?) octavia vrs tdi cr. Started to notice smoke from the exhaust, not black. It is not noticeable all the time (no big clouds following me), Still there though. Does smell like it's burning oil though all the time, very acidic. Performance seems normal. Coolant seems fine. Oil seems fine. No leaks or loss of oil. Also noticing the smell in the cabin, mainly when stationary and the heater is on. No exhaust leaks that I can see anywhere. Car history: Around 126k Turbo replaced 1yr ago. exhaust gas temp valve done 1yr ago. Cam belt and lambda sensor done 2 moths ago. Mot done Nov 21, no advisories. I use the car about 4 times a week and do atleast 80 miles per trip, varied styles of driving. No warnings on the dash. Important factor.: I bought this car around 2 months ago, none of these issues were there then..........… thinking that there was underlying issues hence the sale? Either way i am still after advice about the above. Thoughts and ideas will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks David
  4. The 1.8 and 2.0 were indeed B's, I do still like the shape. The 1.9cdti was a C though. I am planning on selling the ibiza after I put a new mot on it, if I can part with it.
  5. Just got my first skoda, always wanted a octavia vrs and now finally have one. Previously cars were. Ford escort lx 1.4 Vectra 1.8 club Vectra 2.0 sri Vectra 1.9 cdti sri 150 Ford focus 1.8 🙄🤢 Vauxhall moka 1.4t or 1.6t 🤔 (was quick) Ibiza 1.8t fr (still own and very quick, very thirsty.) Now have octavia vrs diesel, needed fuel efficiency and performance when needed. I do have many questions, hopefully you all can help 👍
