  1. There was a thread a while back on detailing world where the guy had bought a kit which has sandpaper and removes the top layer of the steering wheel then it has a coating to re-coat the leather over the top. Personally Id just try and find a replacement wheel or maybe get a re-cover by these guys if its cheaper? - http://royalsteeringwheels.com
  2. Never did find any Im afraid. Sold the Mk3 1.5 years ago though so there may be some available now?
  3. I had the foam fix and it came back, then a replacement panel and it came back. I stuck with the stirrer...
  4. I fixed mine by jamming a coffee stirrer up the joint in the seat belt adjuster.
  5. Nice car that. I was looking at the X3 but decided the F31 was big enough for us plus I like estates Cant fault the move to BMW at the moment. Im really enjoying the car.
  6. I was assuming he meant the sticky valve problem. Mine never lost any fluid. It just packed up on the motorway and errored saying stop the engine immediately so it required a tow to the garage
  7. yes but only when it fails so you'll end up with a tow :(
  8. Ive also done the same thing in May this year. 5 Octavia's then after the mk3 Ive moved to a 335d that I got a big discount on. Its smaller in in the boot but a nicer car/engine/auto box and Ive got a roof box for when I need the big space for moving my daughter to Uni!
  9. Car looks great and better than when I had it! love the new reg and splitter
  10. it always looks miles away on the wide-angle dash cam but it was enough for me to slam on the brakes. Id say a couple of feet and I was still accelerating to get around the other cars before the next gantry so I could slot in to the left lanes again. privacy fixed
  11. I had this oxygen thief nearly take us out on the m6 near cannock on Sunday. I was overtaking the golf in the variable speed limit area so not wanting to go too much over the limit with all the cameras. There was a car behind me a good distance back. No idea where this guy came from. Time and date is wrong as the blackvue cocked up for some reason but it was parked in an underground for a day so maybe lost the GPS? Removed the sound due to some sweary words! Cj7 is for sale on regplates.com for £50k and isn't insured according to adkmid :( cj7 mercedes m6
  12. Mine was a september 13 build and it came with it. It was mainly the demos which came without. Accelerate and flick the mode between sport and eco and you'll soon know if you have it but otherwise there's a hockey puck unit under the panel in front of the windscreen.
  13. No idea but I doubt they'd get close to some of the online lease deals. Id go that way myself if my yearly mileage wasn't so variable.
  14. From what Ive read the BMW is 60:40 permanent but will shift 100% either way once it loses traction on front or back. It works really well on mine. It was quite simple with mine :( Crap discount offered and worse PX than BMW were offering so off I went.
  15. £500 each so might be worth getting an extended warranty for those that have them.
  16. took me about 2 months to work that one out when i got my mk3
  17. nearly a very dead bmw driver and some innocents then :( shocking
  18. Glad you're liking it Walter and glad its gone to a car fan and not some random auction
  19. you can turn it to normal cruise on a 3 series Bmw although I'd never turn it off as I love adaptive cruise
  20. My mk iii was kind of the opposite. Really good dealer with lots of apologies and quick turnaround (with loans cars) when things went wrong. Only problem was things went wrong so often that I became big pals with the service guys as I was there all the time :( Mk iii VRS TDI DSG Estate - Faults before I PX'd it 8(!) Auto boot lifters replaced (£500 each out of warranty so wasn't wiling to risk it) Boost sensor failed - Trailered back to garage Fault on ECO mode not re-engaging after coasting - Fixed after mine became the guinea pig for the new ECU software Water pump failed - Trailered to garage and replaced (lost a days overtime on a Saturday) rattling/buzzing B pillar seat belt housing (Never really fixed despite several attempts and I gave up and fixed by jamming a coffee stirrer inside the unit) B Pillar seat belt housing replaced (worn cheap plastic) Passenger seat belt buckle failed and replaced Buttons on MFSW replaced due to sticking in cold 1st set of rear tyres saw toothed due to possible misalignment at factory DAB pretty much didn't work when it was cloudy Front door seals replaced due to water retention (we all know about this one!) Finally terrible residuals compared to the 3 mk ii's I had. I looked into a Superb or VRS 4x4 but Skoda's PX price was less than what BMW offered so I jumped ship. As with Orville's clutch plight above Im quite glad I did jump ship at the moment but if Im honest I don't really trust any car manufacturers nowadays.
  21. I'm not sure what happened to my mk3. It was going to auction but I looked after it and apparently it went to one of the cooper/inchcape group down south. It was a 63 on XSW plate if anyone bought it. Just run in the 335d so all power is now available
  22. I bought a 10 month old used 55 plate demo L&K and it came home with about 5 obvious faults which I then had to drive back to Liverpool to get fixed so IMO the multipoint check is a load of bull at some dealers. If they are now having to strip the engine then I'd be rejecting at this point as I wouldn't trust it. Are you still able to reject with being past the 30 days?
  23. Both statements are bull. They are leaking and should be dryI had 8 lifters replaced on mine before I part ex'd. Part of the reason I got rid was because it was nearly out of warranty and they are £500 per lifter! The dealer (who were very good with me) mainly waited until there were visible drips of oil before replacing so never clean them. I was also getting failures when lifting with the mad beeps. If yours do get replaced then demand they fit the "f" revision part. I had these before I got rid and they didn't leak as much as the others so maybe not fully cured yet :(
