  1. Looks really nice that. I was dead set on the quartz grey but ended up ordering race blue as they had one in the showroom when I went, they do come a few nice colours tbh. The photos are good because I've not seen one sport on the road yet either. Interesting people's different choice of options; I went for auto lights/wipers, kessy go, heated seats and hill hold but kind of regret not getting the LED running lights now.
  2. Thanks all for the replies. It's more than fair to say that everyone in our family's missed having a Skoda since we got rid of our Mk1 Fabia nearly 2 years ago when I originally posted about this about a rapid spaceback. At that time when they were still relatively new I didn't think it they were worth the money so got a 2nd hand VW 1.6 Tdi instead. Fast forward and well, I ordered one of these 1.2 TSi SE Sports at the weekend (same colour as picture). Having been diesel for 15+ years I've decided I've had enough of them, our VW 1.6 TDi Defeat Device err sorry "BlueMotion" was ok but after the EGR valve went (under warranty but still a pain in the backside) I've decided modern diesels are just too complicated for their own good. Saying that I did cling onto the diesel idea as long as I could and even test drove the 1.4 TDi but I liked the 1.2 TSi engine more anyway, I thought it was way more fun and even with the higher mpg of the diesel, I calculated that based on our now changed annual mileage and usage it'd take 4 years to get the money back in on less fuel costs if I got the diesel over the lower price petrol, even longer if I got the DSG version. I was really surprised how much room our little rear passengers will have, although they'll probably spend most of the time staring out the glass roof to notice to be honest. Just the 12 week wait for it now ( probably more knowing my luck ) because I had the audacity to put some optional extras on. It feels good to be getting a Skoda again, whether I'll be saying that once I've owned it for a few months is a different matter! Thanks again
  3. Hi. I am due to test drive one at the weekend. If anyone who owns one could provide any info it would be really helpful , particularly: Real world MPG. I'd like to think I'd get 85% of the book figures. Is the 90 BHP engine coupled to a DSG box adequate, I have a thinking in my mind that this isn't really powerful enough, especially as it'll be a family car. Any general good or bad points/common problems. Thanks
  4. I always thought the speed rating came after the rim size, hence the question. goes to show what I know then. Thanks for speedy answer.
  5. I've got some standard VRS alloys, which are on 205 45 ZR16 tyres. What's the significance of the Z in ZR as when looking for tyres not many come up at that size but I can find loads that are 205 45 R16, do they need to be ZR's? Thanks
  6. Broke one of my keys, been quoted £99.23 by main dealer for a new key and coding. It's not even a remote key fob, just a bog standard key with a transponder from a 2001 fabia, rip off! Does anyone know where I can get one done cheaper? I tried a Timpson near me but they couldn't do it because of the coding. Cheers
  7. Am I too late? apologies if so... Chimpy - 2 x 80mm silver/black OEM style
  8. local Seat main dealer, £10.64 inc VAT each
  9. My console bushes have gone. I want to replace them with the seat cupra ones, part no 6LL 407 183 Will they fit into my 2001 TDi? or have the console designs ever changed or something that means I can't use these bushes Cheers
  10. well surprise surprise it worked fine on XP. In Vista, If you alter VCDSLite.exe to run in XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode and alter the USB power options so they are always enabled it works too
  11. Thanks, I'm such a muppet forgot you can repoint the COM ports. My laptop still doesn't like it though, keeps dropping the connection to the cable in Device Manager. Probably an issue with Vista and/or the drivers. Could always be my expensive cable that's faulty too. I'll give a try on XP first because if wont work on XP it certainly wont work on any other operating system
  12. I've been thinking about buying the proper version and cable from ross-tech but before I did I downloaded the lite version and bought one of those quality cables of fleabay. At £7 quid I thought it was worth a go. However I cant even get started. My laptop has 3 USB ports but these are COM 12, 13 and 14. In VCDS lite it asks you to test the interface on ports 1,2,3 or 4. So I cant test it as those ports dont match my USB port numbers so the test obviously fails. I know these cables aren't supported but even if I bought a proper ross-tech cable why would it be any different, my USB COM ports would still be 12, 13 and 14 whatever I plug in them. Can anyone help with this as I dont want to pay out for a proper cable if I cant guarentee it'll work with my PC. Its a HP DV6000 running Vista Home Premium if that helps. Any help much appreciated. Cheers.
  13. how old are your rear discs? once they get rust on the outside edge where the pad doesn't touch they can get noisy because once the disc get hot, like any metal, it expands. One sympton of this is this is the pad starts to contact the rusty bit which give of a really harsh grinding noise ( i had this on mine) Another is the disc rubs on the small metal shim where the pad sits. replace the rear discs + clean up the pads (easy DIY job ) unless they're fairly new in which case I have no idea what's causing your noise, sorry.
  14. cheers Yeah I changed my evap sensor on the off chance it was that when i first had the problem , only thing that did was reduce the amount of skin I have on my knuckles When I got it re-gassed and it was all fine for a bit too but then I started having problems again. I changed the pollen filter at the last service which was a couple of months ago so wouldn't have thought it was blocked but you never know
