  1. Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll just have to try it. It all depends on the length of the leg cushion as I'm only 5ft.
  2. Hi, quick question for Fabia III owners, Does the Fabia III driver seat have a lumbar support adjuster like the Fabia II did? I just read an SEL review and they complained about lower back pain. I suffer from this so it is vitally important for me. My older Fabia II (level 3) seat was good for me. I now have a Toyota Yaris which has terrible seats and so I have to use cushions, but I still can't get comfortable. Thanks in advance,
  3. This is one of the reasons I wont buy a citigo/up/mii. The satnav etc should be inbuilt, or you may as well just get a TomTom etc. I don't want to have to take the PID with me or keep putting it in the glove box, I would end up leaving it in there. I only use a satnav when I am lost. It's a strangely backward/old system to me.
  4. Hmm, I just did a price up for a similar spec that I got when I got my now ex Fabia. Old car: Fabia II Level 3 57 reg 1.9TDI 105bhp, with ESP and a few other add-ons = £14000 New car: Fabia III SEL 1.4TDI 105bhp, with a few add-ons to make it a similar spec as the old one = £18100 = 29% increase. WTF. Might as well get a Polo. They have seriously got the figures wrong somewhere.
  5. Hi, I hope you don't have the issues I had with this. Usually it means you need a re-gas. Mine started flashing after about 4 years in my now ex 57 Fabia 3 TDI 1.9. There is a way to get the error code from the air con unit, hold down the filter button on start-up I think. Anyway I got the error code and got a garage to replace the part and re-gas it. 6 months later it had started flashing again. Took it to another garage and they fixed it by re-gasing it. A few months later it started flashing again but more intermittently. I gave up on it and exchanged the car after about 6 years for a Toyota Yaris after I started getting more problems (boot leak, exhaust warning, door not locking/opening). Bad decision maybe as I miss the power and seat comfort, but we live and learn. I may go back to a Fabia III in a few years, but they do look expensive. Stu.
  6. I have had this error code 2 times now. The first was the pressure switch needed replacing and a re-gas, after 4 years (57 reg Fabia 3 1.9TDI) The second was just a re-gas as they hadn't done the first one properly so it only lasted a few months before flashing again. My guess is you just need a re-gas as this error code indicates both problems. Perhaps the first time my car only needed a re-gas and they didn't know, so replaced the pressurer switch anyway.
  7. I have this issue (but out of warranty... although I asked them to test for it on a few occassions and they found nothing as per usual). Anyway... it is the accelerator sticking (not fully going back up). Simple trick is to lift the pedal up with your foot when it revs too much.
  8. I bought my car from these guys in 2007 (a 57 FabiaII 3, with a few extras, esp etc). At that time they were in their original smaller building. Craig Saint sold me the car. Never had a problem with them and if you did you could actually talk to someone reasonably. Was a great place. Then they moved. All the good staff went, i.e. Craig, Stuart Marsden (I think) in servicing etc. Now all they care about is money. All the prices went up, service charges etc rose. I still had my first 3 years (warranty) servicing with them, but each service cost more than the last and they seemed to do less and less at each service. There were a few minor warranty covered replacements. Then my first out of warranty service came. Now granted I wanted my cam belt changing as it was 4 years old. But they came back with loads of other issues. All the filters needed changing (I thought this was part of the service price.. not so), one rear caliper was sticking and to replace that and clean the brake disc etc it was going to be about £500, it needed new tyres which I knew about. There were minor issues such as rattles which I had always complained about....but they wanted £55 or so to investigate those. Also the last time I was in they supposedly order replacement inner A wings to stop the rattles (or course they had no record of this, although it was the same annoying service guy at the desk). So I paid for new filters and in all paid about £650 for a cam belt change, a service and a few filters. So now I go to an independant and got the whole back brakes (Bosch caliper, disc etc on both sides) fixed for about £250 I think. Never will I every go to Simpsons again. They have also put me off getting another Skoda, although I love my Fabby, which is a shame.
  9. I have a 57 Fabia II level 3 with ESP. I swapped my tyres around after about 20k. I'm still on the same tyres after 45k. The front tyres were worn more than the rears which looked new. I've now got about 3mm remaining on them and will probably get 4 new tyres before winter.
  10. I have a Fabia II 3 1.9TDI 57 reg. The suspension is not as low as the sport. The cruise control is great on motor ways when not busy. Climate control is great. The arm rest is a waste of time and money though. I have never used it as it gets in the way of gear changes. I used to do 43 miles each way for my commute to work (mostly motorway). The max MPG i've had for a 43 mile run is 78mpg according to the maxi-dot display. Most often i'd get about 60-70mpg. Hope this helps.
  11. Hi, My dad just got a new 59 Octavia II Elegance. He ordered curtain air bags as an extra. I own a Fabia II level 3. The Fabia has a airbag image on the pillar plastic, the Octavia does not have this. How do I tell If the Octavia has curtain airbags? Thanks, Stu.
  12. This is changing them at 26000 miles. The rear tyres look new 6mm. The front were on 3mm. STU
  13. Hi, Had another go at swopping the wheels round this last weekend. The back wheels needed a good few minutes hammering (with a rubber hammer) before they came off. The front wheels fell off after one or two hits... the rims seem smaller in depth. Thanks for the advice. STU
  14. Yep, seat belt was on... did 43 miles. STU
  15. Hi, an update The next time I drove the car, the inicator noise was back. STU
  16. Hi again, This weekend I decided to swap the wheels round (back wheels to front etc). I removed the bolts ok, but couldn't remove the damn alloy wheels, so gave up. Anyone know of a way to remove the wheels easily without damaging the alloys? I doubt they have been ever removed before. STU:rotz:
  17. Hi peeps, Today, going to work, my Fabia II 1.9TDI level 3 had no indicator noise when turning/indicating left or right. The dashboard light was still flashing as was the actual light itself (I saw a reflection on another car). Anyone else had this problem? STU.
  18. Hi, Had my first service yesterday, cost £160 from preston simpsons skoda. Everything was ok as expected. STU
  19. I have a Fabia 3 1.9Tdi. I do 86 miles a day, mostly motorway (~80 miles). Last week my tank average was 62.5 mpg. During that week a return trip (43 miles) averaged 72 mpg. STU
  20. Yeah, I had the same problem with the glove box, but I noticed it the day after I bought the 1.9TDI level 3 Fabia. They quickly fixed it. My car doesn't seem to use much oil, but the garage did provide me with a free oil bottle. Never had to fill the oil up yet since 1st September. The heated mirrors don't have a warning or turn them selfs off, but it is easy to know if they are on. I've used the heated mirrors with the back window heater and they seem to work together. Stu.
  21. Just been down to Oxford and back up to Preston for an interview. This tank is so far averaging 61.0 mpg according to the maxi-dot. I've still got quarter tank left.
  22. Hi, I have a Satin grey Fabia 3 try the following post: My car pics is a few messages down. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia-2007/i-ve-ordered/83802/ STU
  23. I have: Fabia level 3 TDI 1.9 105bhp Satin Grey colour - looks light blue/silver Extras: 3rd headrest, tyre pressure sensor, radio control on steering wheel, ESP with rear disc brakes. STU
  24. I have a Fabia 1.9 TDI Level 3, The last tank, I got 510 miles out of it. The maxi-dot computer said 57.1 mpg for the 510 miles. I calculated the mpg by filling the tank twice and I got 54.0, so the computer is not far off. I've done 1900 miles so far, mostly motorway, have climate control on when needed to clear the screen etc. STU
